Clark left Oakland Wednesday morning for U. S naval hospital, Corona, California, via a special flight arranged by naval air transportation service. The flight to save the 25-year old seaman's life began over two monhts ago at Samar navy ship repair base and the race with poliomyelitis was on. NATS flew an iron lung to the Philippine base in mid-November and after several hops, the lung and its patient arrived at Oak Knoll hospital on Thanksgiving Day. The disease attacked Clark's respiratory tract, but expert and swift treatment at the naval hospital hos-pital finds the sailor making a rapid recovery. Clark has been out of the lung for from one to two hours each day for the past three weeks and just before taking off from Oak land naval air station remarked gleefully, "I'll be out of this contraption when I get to Corona, It really isn't my home you know!" Accompanying the patient were Lt. (j.g.) J. R. Cunningham, MC, and Corpsman Lloyd Stevens. Piloting was Lt. S. W. Crooks.
