I'M PAGE 3 City Approves Salary Raises Salary increases affecting nearly near-ly 75 Provo city employees were passed last night by the city commission, com-mission, retroactive to August 1. The increase did not take the form of a blanket percentage raise but was more or less on an individualized basis, following to a great extent the general recommendations recom-mendations of Douglas Wood. Salt Lake City personnel expert who recently completed a city salary study. The raises deal with all city department except utilities, whose salary schedule is handled separately under the present arrangement. The increases will increase the salary total in the city'i general' fund about $10,000 annually.-I annually.-I Taken on an average, this would' :be about a five percent raise, but' i Mayor Mark Anderson claimed this is not the first raise city employees have had since 1941, and furnished figures to show' i that the general payroll has about doubled in that period. Some of this is due to increased personnel, he said, but most of it is due to salary increases. Uruguay ranks as the world's? second largest exporter of beef and beef products.
