The executive officer of the de pot, Lt. Col. F. L. Gillette, said all surplus nails at the depot had been turned over to the war as sets corporation for disposal. Gillette said he didn't know Just how many nails had been handed the WAC. but guessed it would be "several times" the 205,000 pounds three carloads that San Francisco contractors charged were being hoarded by the depot. M. E. Pearson, resident inspec tor 'of consumer goods for the WAC. insisted that only about 300,000 pounds of nails were involved, in-volved, but was reluctant to dis cuss details of the operation, in sisting all information should come through the Denver public relations department of the cor poration. Pearson said that when the de pot declared the huge stock of nails to be surplus, the treasury department in Washington immediately im-mediately took possession of all standard building size nails, presumably pre-sumably for transfer to other government gov-ernment departments. Some box nails originally stored at the depot were sold on the open market, Pearson added, and "a few thousand pounds of odd- sized nails are still awaiting dis Family To Join Ocdm Officer In Germany The family of Chief Warrant Officer Jack K.
