Kaifer, Pacific coast shipbuilder and owner of the west's only self-sufficient steel slant, today presented Washine ton with advance " blueprints of plans to establish a gigantic inte grated - steel industry after the war if the RFC approves terms for repayment of a $111,000,000 government gov-ernment loan. Kaiser said his Fontanr plant alone could bo developed along at least three industrial lines through a $52,000,000 loan which a-private bank has promised to make once satisfactory arrangements are completed withthe Reconstruction Reconstruc-tion Finance corporation. The plant would produce tin plate, light-rolled sheet metal products, Kaiser said. He pointed out that tin plate is not manufac tured on the west coast at the present time, although 32 per cent of the tin can industry is located in this area. New Idea to Keep Chickens Away SPRINGFIELD. 111., May 22 (OR) H. Clay Gott, attorney general's gen-eral's office employe, today awaited results of an experiment he hoped would aid all victory gardens. Gott discovered chickens in his garden. They scratched up the seeds as fast as he planted them. Yesterday the chickens found and quickly gobbled up several large kernels of golden corn spread about the garden. A little later the chickens' owners were surprised to find hanging from the fowls' bills pieces of paper with the typewritten type-written note: "I have been a bad bird. Please keep me home, before I get killed." The notes were attached to pieces of string tied to the kernels of corn through laboriously arm ed small holes. May 22 (U.R The supreme court refused Mon day to dismiss anti-trust suits brought by the federal government govern-ment against two alkali export associations as-sociations and 13 member chemi cal firms. The court heard the appeals of the two associations U. S. Alkali Exoort association. Inc.. and Call fornia Alkali Export association- after the southern New i orK iea- eral district court refused to dis miss the suits. The associations contended that trials at the present time would hamner U. S. nostwar trade plans The government's suits charged the combines with making cartel agreements with Belgian, uer-man, uer-man, and British interests to "squeeze out" competitors in the U. S. alkali field. The associations, contended mat under the 1018 Webb-Fomerene act such suits could be brougnt ny the justice department only at the request of the federal trade commission.
