The House Rules committee today to-day laid on the table a resolution resolu-tion to extend the Guffey Coal Act until Jan. 1. Chairman Adolph Sabath, D., 111., predicted the act would die at expiration of the present temporary extension on Aug. 23. ! Proponents of the temporary extension, led by Rep. James P. McGranery, p., Pa., told the Rules Committee tnai rauure 10 exienu the Guffey act would block expansion ex-pansion of the coal industry necessary nec-essary for war production. Only, yesterday the House Ways and Means Committee voted against further renewal of the act, which was a new deal measure mea-sure to stabilize the coal industry by establishing minimum prices. Deaths Lovina E. Buell Mrs. Lovina E. Carlile Buell, widow of Frederick O. Buell, died Sunday at her home, 266 Soutft First West street, of causes incident in-cident to age. Mrs. Buell was born ApriL 11, 1863, in Heber, a daughter of George and Laura and Giles Car lile. She was cd- Mexican Envoy To Confer Award SALT LAKE CITY, July 6 U.I! Dr. Francisco Castillo Najera, Mexican ambassador to the United States, and his official party will arrive here tonight to present the decoration of Aztec Eagle to Maj. Gen. Kenyon A. Joyce, commanding command-ing general of the ninth service command. Thr decoration is the highest Mexican military award. It will be presented to Joyce tomorrow morning at his Fort Douglas headquarters. Florence Gllner of Salt Lake Cit; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.-m. in the Provo Sixth ward chapel with Terry J. He was construction foreman fore-man for the UPM at the time of his death. He was a veteran of the first World war, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was a member of the Provo American Legion, post. Mr. Rowland married Leah Loveless Love-less on May 6, 1930,at Evanston, Wyo. Surviving are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Ruth "Austin of Provo, and 11 brothers and .sisters. .sis-ters.
