Mrs. Rees Bench, president, extended greetings to the members and guests, and announced the no v officers for next year, as follows: Mrs. Wendell Rigby, president, and Mrs. Milton Marshall', vice president. Other officers will be appointed with the commencement of the new school year. Daffodils and forsythia beautifully decorated 1ho entertaining rooms. Mrs. Ellen Davenport gave the lesson on "Journalism" and Mrs. Bessie Gourley talked on local history. Refreshments were served to those named, also to Mrs. Annie Tanner, Mrs. Melinda Jor-gensen, Jor-gensen, Mrs. Mattie Hinckley, Mrs. Jean Paulsen, Mrs. Maude Knudsen, Mrs. Myrtle Harding, Mis. Cards Follow Easter Luncheon An enjoyable time was spent by members of the Cozette club at the home of Mrs. Lois Curtis Thursday evening. After a tasty luncheon, with Easter napkins and tallies adding to the attractiveness of the tables, Monte Carlo Whist was played. Mrs. LuelLa Skipworth won high score prize and Mrs. Doyne Clark, consolation favor. In attendance were: Mrs. Evelyn Faden, Mrs. Doyne Clark, Mrs. Maxine Elliott, Mrs. Marjorie Brienholt, Mrs. Nelda Jensen, Mrs. Afton Wilkins, and guests, Mrs. Luella Skipworth and Miss Artha Jean Curtis. Harold Van Wagenen, historian his-torian and reporter. Dr. Halliday illustrated his remarks by playing parts on the piano. Fine Program At D.U.P. Meet An interesting meeting of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers of Camp No. 4-6, was held at the home , of Mrs. I. E. Brockbank Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Melva Perry, first vice captain, was in charge, and Mrs. Lovina Johnson, captain, reported On the recent county convention. The following members were named as a nominating committee : Mrs. Margaret Bigelow, Mrs. De-lila De-lila Adams and Mrs. Mary Demos. Mrs. Betsy Anderson gave the history of her parents Robert Stone and Rachael Horrocks Duke. Little Jill Clark and Kay Brock-bank Brock-bank sang two songs, accompanied by Mrs. Rissa Clark, and Mrs. Edith Y. Booth talked on "Journalism "Jour-nalism in the Pioneer Days," and displayed an interesting collection of newspapers and church magazines maga-zines of the early-day period. Daffodils and hyacinths were employed in decorating. An Easter motif predominated in the tasty refreshments served by the hostesses: host-esses: Mrs. Elsie Brockbank. Mrs: Hazel Janson, Mrs. Fern Lewis, Mrs. Louise Coleman and Mrs. Belle Fillmore. Patriotic Party At Vineyard A patriotic party attended by 50 relatives and friends was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gammon, in Vineyard, Thursday evening. Honor guests were Major and Mrs. T. C. Hebertson, from Modesto, Mo-desto, Calif., also, Flake Rogers, who is leaving for the army, and Dean Olsen who has joined the navy. Contest games and singing were led. by Taylor Allen, and sort talks were made by Bishop Waller Holdaway and the honored guests. Mrs. Oriel Clegg was in charge. A delicious pot-luck lunch was served. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Job Llewellyn of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Goates of Spanish Fork. His commission is with thr medical medi-cal administrative corps, and he fs assigned to the air corps. Both are former students of the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university, where the groom was a member of the Delta Phi honorary fraternity. A family dinner was given in thoir honor at the Goates' home in Spanish Fork. A new member, Mrs. Katherine Reese, was welcomed and $8 in war stamps sold. A delicious lunch was served to 14 members and three 'special guests, Mrs. Gladys Nelson, Mrs. Afton Gardner and Mrs. Fern Olsen. Mrs.' Loveridge Gives Talk Mrs. Delia Loveridge, state representative, rep-resentative, gave an interesting" talk on the state legislature, at the dinner-meeting of the Business and Professional Women's club, held at Keeleys Thursday evening. Mrs. Loveridge, chairman of the legislation committee, and Mrs. Elsie Tipton, were in charge, and Mrs. Flo Redden, president, presided. Announcement was made of the state convention and election of officers to be held May 16, at the Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City. Miss Thelma Vest was named chairman for the Provo group. Elections will take place at the next meeting. May 13, and Mrs. Delia Loveridge was named chairman chair-man of the nominating committee. Bride's Breakfast SPANISH FORK Honoring Mrs. Max Carson, the former Marjorie Mar-jorie Gardner, a bride's breakfast was held at the Sutton cafe. The centorpiece was a ship in patriotic patri-otic colors to honor the U. S. navy in which the bridegroom serves., Hosts at the delightful affair af-fair were the officers and members mem-bers of the Beta Thalian club with President Rhea Bowrn in charge. O. Buell To Be Feted Mrs. Lovina E. Carlile Buell will be honor guestl Sunday at an open house reception to celebrate her eightieth birthday anniversary at her home 266 South First West. Friends and relatives are invited in-vited to call from 2 to 5 p. m. Mrs. Buell was born in Heber City, April 11, 1863, the daughter daugh-ter of George and Laura Ann Giles Carlile, and is the only living member of the family. She married mar-ried Frederick O. Buell in Heber City, May 7, 1884. Mr. Buell was in the mercantile buisiness for a number of years. In March, 1919, he retired and the family, moved to Provo. He died Dec. 25, 1935. Mrs. Buell is the mother of eight children, five of whom are living; Mrs. Maiy Simkins, Mrs. Jennie Henrichsen. Provo; Owen F. Buell, Heber; Mrs. Golda Huntington, Hunt-ington, Springville; Airs. Florence Gilner, Salt Lake City. She has thirteen grandchildren and two great grand children. The Piovoan is a devout Latter-day Latter-day Saint, and ha"S a host of friends. She is alert to everyday every-day happenings and is cheerful in spite of the fact that she has been an invalid for 'the past four or five years. Y Men Leaving;-Dance Leaving;-Dance Friday The Associated Men Students of v Brigham Young university will sponsor a carnival dance Friday evening in honor of the 150 army . reservists who are leaving Monday Mon-day for induction at Fort Douglas. . The dance will feature such : games as "demolish Hitler's face -wS!jh a welf-pitched ball or "prick Hero-hito's nose with a dart," and will be held in the Women's gymnasium. An added feature will be the "bean-guessing contest" now In progress. A shower in honor of the bride was given by the M. I. A., group of the Palmyra ward, and another shower was given by the Palmyra stake seminary sem-inary class of which she is a member.
