Rambeau Society Editor Phone 432 President's Reception For Graduates Attractive Fete Highlighting the social activities held in connection con-nection with B. Y. U. Commencement, was the annual an-nual reception tendered by Pres. and Mrs. Franklin S. Harris Tuesday afternoon at their home on University Uni-versity hill, for the graduates, alumnae, board members, faculty and friends. Always an interesting reunion event, the affair was held, in the garden and was attended by hundreds hun-dreds of guests, who were introduced to the receiving receiv-ing line by Dr. T. Earl Pardoe and Dr. Clarence S. Boyle. Dr. and Mrs. Harris headed the line, which comprised com-prised at different hours, the deans and their wives and board members and wives. Included were: Dr. and Mrs. Chris- . ten Jensen, Dr. Gerrit de Jong. Dr. T. L. Martin, Mrs. Nettie Neff Smart. Dr. and Mrs. George Hansen, Han-sen, Dr. and Mrs. Amos N. Merrill, Mer-rill, Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Lambert. Prof, and Mrs. Herald R. , 'Clark, Dr. and Mrs. Wesley P. Lloyd, Mr. and Mrs. Keifer B. Sauls and Dr. and Mrs. Carlton Culm-see. Culm-see. Also, Apostle and Mrs. Albert Al-bert E. Bowen, Apostle George Albert Smith, and Apostle Richard Rich-ard R. Lyman. Beautiful string music was played all afternoon by a string quartet, under the direction of Prof. LeRoy J. Robertson. Included In-cluded were Max Butler, Nafhele Clayton, Gone Faux and Allen Jensen. Guests were served in the pergola, per-gola, the table being covered with a lace cloth, and featuring an unusual centerpiece; tin electric fountain, in which floated many pond lilies. A handsome silver service was used. Mrs. Josephine Strong and Mrs. Lorin C. Bryner were in charge. Those pouring and serving were: Mrs. Ed. M. Rowe, Mrs. W. F. Hanson. Mrs. E. R. Kimball, Mrs. A. Peterson of this city announce an-nounce the) marriage of their daughter, Alice, to Warren J. Jonn-son. Jonn-son. son of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Johnson of Moab. The ceremony took jplace at the home of the bride, Saturday. Bishop Bish-op J. Angus Christensen officiating. offici-ating. The bride was attractively gowned in a dress of pale blue sheer, and carried a dainty bouquet. bou-quet. She was attended by Mrs. Ben Zobell, as matron of honor, Miss LaRee Huntington, maid of honor, and Miss Fern Knudsen and Miss Melba Johnson, a sister of the groom, as bridesmaids. Wallace Johnson was best man. Following the cqxemony a wedding dinner was served for tne members of the two families and a few intimate friends. Later in the evening the bride's mother entertained at an informal reception and shower for 35 guests The couple left the same evening for Hawthorne, Nevada, where they will make their home for the present, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Johnson John-son came from Moab to attend the wedding. Many beautiful gifts were received by the young couple. - Heber J. Grants Overnight Guests President and Mrs. Heber .1. Grant and Apostle and Mrs. Albert Al-bert E. Bowen were overnight guests of Pres. and Mrs. Franklin S. Harris at their home Tuesday. Tues-day. A breakfast was held in their honor this morning. They were here to attend the Commencement exercises held in the Joseph Smith building at 10 o'clock. McTague, son of Mrs. Kathrine McTague of American Fork, The young couple were married in the Salt Lake temple Friday afternoon, President Stephen ii Chipman officiating. ' The bride has been employed in Salt Lake City for the past year and a half. Mr. McTague is a graduate of the B. Y. U and has filled a mission in the Hawaiian Islands. 1 The couple are honeymooning through the canyons in aouthern Utah, also In Arizona, and will return re-turn for a reception to be given, in their honor Friday evening at the Hotel Roberts, in Provo. Cloward-Ellet Wedding Held The marriage of Miss McVoy Cloward and Junior Ellet, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Ellet of Salt Lake City, is announced by Mr. and Mrs. Reece Cloward of Provo, parents of the bride. The wedding, a quiet affair, was held Saturday evening at the Cloward home. Bishop John Brailsford of Bonneville ward. performing the ceremony. Immediate Im-mediate family members were present. Large bouquets of red and white peonies decorated the rooms Dainty refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Ellet left for a sh rt trip, and on their return will make their home in Salt Luke-City. Luke-City. Home On Furlough; Wed Rites in the Salt Lake temple Monday, united in marriage Miss Joan Call of Brigham City, and Evan Terry, B. Y. U. graduate, who was home on furlough from the IT. S. army, stationed at Atlanta, Atlan-ta, Ga. The young man Is well known here. He attended school in Chicago Chi-cago before going into the service. Witnesses to the ceremony were his brother and sistcr-'in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Terry, and an aunt, Mrs. Ellen Holdaway. He is leaving to return to camp. Pre-Nuptial Dinner Enjoyed A smart pre-nuptial event, in the form of a dinner, was given by Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Chase Monday Mon-day evening at the Edna Mae Hedquist home. . The honored couple were Miss Venice Whiting of Springville, and Robert L. Springmeyer, whose marriage is to be an event of this evening at the bride's home. Members of the two families were entertained, as follows: Mrs. J. W. Whiting, mother of the bride-elect: Mr. and Mrs. Harold T. Whiting. Mr. and Mrs. Virl Whiting. Mr. and Mrs. T. M. P .Shiner of Salt Lake City, a few close friends being entertained on this delightful delight-ful occasion'. Mrs. Sterling Ercanbrack read a play, following which luncheon was served. Gifts delighted the honoree. A variety of the season's flowers were used in decorating.
