APRIL1 -1942: t ... .- Smart Dinner-Dance Affair Given By Fauvines For Team Amid magnolia blossoms and ferns of "Plantation "Planta-tion Paradise" the .Fauvine pep club of B. Y. high school - held a dinner-dance .Saturday evening in the Joseph Smith building, in honor of the high school basketball team. During dinner Dr. G. L. Woolf and Fauvine officers offi-cers June Mower, president; Bonnie Wilson, vice president, and Dorothy Rawson, secretary toasted the team for their work during basketball season. At intermission during the dance, the, entire club sang a song honoring the team. Patrons and patronesses were Dr. and Mrs. Woolf, Mr. and Mrs A. John Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Crowton, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Hayes and Mr: and Mrs. H. A. Tangren. Maria Hayes acted as general chairman of arrangements assisted assist-ed by Joy Tangren In charge of the dance; Verna Hansen and Nola de Jong, decorations; Ellen Ashworth, dinner; Deanne Merrill, orchestra; Marion Jones, programs; pro-grams; and Bonnie Wilson, favors. QUAtANTEED BY MAKfl Provo Women Attend Confab At the third annual meeting of the Utah State realtors' auxiliary, held at the Hotel Utah in Salt Lake Saturday, Mrs. Fred E. Ray, prominent Provo Matron, was elected second vice-president for the ensuing year. Mrs. Denzil Brown has, been president of the organization. Fifty-seven women registered before the luncheon which was held in the Empire room. Music was furnished by the Sun Valley orchestra and an attractive fashion fa-shion show and display was shown by manikins from the Z. C. M. I. Many lovely favors" were presented pre-sented to the ladies during the day. In the evening the ladies were joined Ly their partners for the dinner-dance held in the banquet hall on the mezzanine floor. Henry Falkners Are Hosts Mr. and Mrs. Henry Falkner entertained en-tertained members of the Pinochle Pin-ochle club at their home Friday evening. Dinner was served before the game, the dining table being arranged ar-ranged with a centerpiece of roses. Mrs. Edward Hall received high ocore prize. In attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Strang and Mr. and Mrs. Georee L. Saturday night's gayer events was the semi-formal carnival dance sponsored by . the Tlmp&nogos 1 Golf association, at the" Municipal golf clubhouse. . Attended by 150 couples, including1 in-cluding1 both' members and guests, Jthe party featured dancing to the music of Wally Williams and his band, from Salt Lake City. - . A number of carnival attractions attrac-tions were operated during the evening, including fortune-telling booths. -Also during the evening, refreshments were sold. Proceeds from the lively function will be used to finance and decorate the clubhouse, announce Marion Halli-day Halli-day and Mra. J. Edwin Stein, presidents, respectively, of the Timpanogos Golf association and the Women's Golf association, sponsors of the carnival. P. E. Ashton was general arrangements ar-rangements chairman. Jaycee Wives Review Projects Rounding out a successful club year, the Jaycee Wives reported activities at a recent meeting held at Which Mrs. Earl Oss was elected president for 1942-43. Mrs. Lynn D. Moulton is the retiring president. The Jaycee Wives have assisted local physicians in the Child Health conferences, 227 physicial examinations for infants and preschool pre-school children having been made. Eighty-five, dental examinations were also made, as "well as 47 complete diphtheria immunizations on infants and pre-school children; and 50 complete smallpox vaccinations. vaccina-tions. The women have been particularly partic-ularly active in Red Cross work, 20 "knitted garments being made and many sewing articles completed; com-pleted; ... The Christmas barrel! aid project pro-ject reported 50 families provided pro-vided food and clothing. The Jaycee Jay-cee Wives assisted with maintenance main-tenance of headquarters, decorating decor-ating and helping with distribution dis-tribution of food and clothing. Twelve Jaycee Wives sewed for the Utah Valley hospital, it was reported. Party Enjoyed By School Friends Mr. and Mrs. Melvin J. Tay lor were hosts Saturday evening to a group of former school friends, who are living or visit ing in Provo. Reminiscing and games were enjoyed and were followed wth a well appointed luncheon. Included were LeGrande Lewis and Chester Olsen, who have been living in Los Angeles and have returned home prior to enlisting in the service, Mrs. Harry Hal-liday, Hal-liday, who is spending some time with her parents, while her hus band is vsmg transferred from Camp Roberts California to another an-other camp, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Peay, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Merrott, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred L. Newren, Miss Rosemary Hanseen, Miss Jean Hill and Miss Irene Mitchell. Bishopric Given -Dinner Party The Sixth ward bishopric was honored at a dinner-party given Sunday evening following Pri mary conference, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rooney. Terry Oldroyd, Seymour Gray and Peter Jensen presented a lively live-ly program, much to the amusement amuse-ment of the group, and community communi-ty singing was enjoyed. Dinner Given Husbands The Brue Ellis home was the scene of a merry party Saturday evening, when members of the Les Fllles club and their husbands were entertained. Early in the evening a delicious chicken dinner was served at a long table, which was gaily ar rayed witn spring motifs and flowers. Potted ferns were also engaged in room recorations. Mother Honored At 67th Birthday Mrs. Fred Thatcher, highly re spected Provo matron, was honored hon-ored at her home Sunday, on the occasion of her sixty-seventh birthday anniversary. Red and white carnations were artistically arranged on the dining table which was centered witn an elaborate birthday cake frosted in white, and inscribed with a gold "67". Miss Betty Davies sang "Caro Mia ben" accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Packard and "Into the Night" accompanied toy Thelma Farnsworth. Recordings were, played of other Maynor selections. se-lections.
