Spanisli Fork To Push Whitehead For District Job SPANISH FORK The Spanish Folk Riwarns club this week is presenting LeRoy Whitehead, past lieutenant governor of the Southern Utah division of the Utah-Idaho district of Kiwania International, to the seven clubs of the division as its nominee for district governor for 1941, announces an-nounces President John E. Booth. Election of district officers will "Ui made at the Utah-Idaho district dis-trict convention at Sun Valley September 22, 23 and 24. The choice for the district governor's office comes to the southern Utah clubs ths year, under the district at rangemeiit. Kiwanian Whitehead is being sponsored by the local club because be-cause of his outstanding work in Kiwanis and his leadership in the communities where he has lived. He joined the Nephi Kiwanis club in 1931 and that fall was elected a director. He became -vice president presi-dent of the club in 1833 and president presi-dent in 1934. He worked as a member of the district music committee in 1932 and 1833 and in 1934 was chairman of tVas committee com-mittee at the Idaho Falls convention,, con-vention,, at which convention he was named lieutenant governor of the southern Utah division. According to Mr. Booth, Spanish Span-ish Fork ICiwanians would be agreeable cither to making the selections through a meeting of the delegates of the" seven clubs of the division at a central point or through an: official txillot sent out by Lieutenant Governor J. F. Wingate of Springville, since the officers are to be selected from this district. Protest Against Communists TZd&e Opportunities In Army Training Unprecedented peace-time op-1 portunities for promotion are be-1 ing offered in the United States ' army, with establishment of scores of new units, the Provo recruiting station officials point out. The army has vacancies in the quartermaster corps for a large number of men qualified for filling the following positions: Clerk-typists, Clerk-typists, warehousemen, bakers, bookkeepers, carpenters, painters, plumbers, electricians, sheet metal workers; also an assistant to the utilities officer with a general knowledge of construction. Anyone desiring additional information in-formation should call at the recruiting re-cruiting .station, at the National Guard armory in Provo. SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. Forest as candidate for governor. Entered by a committee of the National Fact Finding council and carrying the signatures of Jeremiah Jere-miah Stokes. Burt Brewster and Anne F. Rutledge, the protest asked ask-ed the secretary of state to refuse ballot space to the Communists. A ruling on legality of placing the Communist ticket on the ballot bal-lot is expected from the office of the attorney general this week. Coats are surprisingly low .at B. Y. U.
