JOLLEY K Jl. :. 11 Program On Opera Given For Music Section A highlight of Friday evening was the program given by the Music Section of Women's Council at the Women's club house, where the stage was set for an evening with well-known operas. A lighted tree accented the other seasonal decorations of chrysanthemums and evergreens.' Mrs. Rose Madsen welcomed guests and Mrs. Earl Blumenthal read the club collect Mrs. Madsen introduced Mrs. Ralph Craven, program chairman, who in turn introduced Mrs. Allie Clark who presented the program win songs Dy ner-vocai students. Mrs. Clark gave the background for numbers from such operas, as, The Firefly," "Faust," and "Carmen." "Car-men." Numbers from these and other operas were sung by Gladys Tip-petts, Tip-petts, Joy Sandgren, Katherine Christensen," LeNoir Asay, Kenneth Ken-neth Martin, Mrs. Nola Nilsson, and Mrs. Herald R. Clark, accompanied accom-panied by Marial Perkins, Martha Perry, Mrs. Fred. Loveless and Mrs. Melba Pyne. After the program, refreshments were served from an attractively decorated table by hostesses: Mrs. Fred Loveless, Mrs. Earl Blumenthal Blumen-thal and Mrs. George Ramsboth-am. Ramsboth-am. Mrs. Craven, Mrs. Robert L. Reid and Mrs. Loveless were in charge of the decorations. Mrs. Clark was presented with a bou quet or cnrysaninemums in appreciation ap-preciation of the program. Members of the section and many guests attended. ELEVENTH WARD The Sunday school will be in charge of the evening meeting at 7:30 p. m. Miss Helen Durrant of the Pioneer ward, will be speaker. Two musical numbers from BYU will be presented. Goodies For Christinas Is Club Topic Mrs. C. La Voir Jensen was hos tess to the Fine Arta club at her home Friday. The public is cordially invited in-vited to attend. Mps. Eldred Is Honored Mrs. L. J. Eldred (Mildred Ayers) who was recently married was the guest of honor at a party given Friday at Women's club house by members of the Artists' Section of the Women's council. Mrs. Eldred has been active with the section for some time and has done some remarkable work. Thirty members gathered to honor Mrs. Eldred. Luncheon was served, featured by a wedding cake and Individual cakes. Poems and tributes were given. The artists display this month will feature work done by Rilla Groneman, Phyllis Olsen and Elizabeth Gillespie. Also holidey pictures are included. Calif, A lovely gift was presented to the couple from fellow workers at Utah Ice and Cold Storage company. Cards and luncheon were enjoyed. Party Held At Elks' Home A delightful party of the week was that given by Ladies of Elks in the Jadles lounge of the Elks home. Mrs. .Margaret Beazer arranged ar-ranged for the pleasant party and Mrs. Elda Roberts was in charge of the luncheon. Games were played and game prizes and door prizes were awarded. Edna Halladay Bride-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Halladay announce the engagement and ap proaching marriage of their daugb ter, Edna, to G. M. Wellesley Jr., son of the late George Morris Wellesley of Portland, Ore. The bride-elect is a graduate of Provo high school and LDS seminary and is a former stu dent of Brigham Young univer sity. Mr. Wellesley graduated from Benson polytechnlcal school in Portland and served in the navy for three years, of which 33 months were spent overseas. He ii now attending BYU. Wilson of Tri- dell, Utah. Glenna is a former student At the Brigham Young university. She is a music student of George Fitzroy. Mr. Wilson is a Junior at BYU and is affiliated with Delta Phi fraternity. He served for two years with the air corps and has filled an LDS mission in the western states. . The couple will recide vows in an LDS temple very soon. Club at Dinner By Candle-Light Mrs. James Liddiard was hostess to members of Les Passerelle club at her home Thursday evening. She chose an attractive Christmas theme for decoration of the dining table and entertaining rooms. Lighted tapers and the playing of Christmas carols added to the at mosphere of the dinner hour. Plans were made for the no hostess party to be held Dec. 22 at - Silver Star cafe in Orem at 8:30 p. m. Gifts will be exchanged. Game awards went to Mrs. John L. Speak Vows In Washington The wedding of 'Florence . Like Mltcham. daughter of Mr.' and Mrs. LeRoy Bur. ion Donn of Charlotte. N. C, to Richard D. Reese, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Reese of this city, took place Nov. 22 in the chapel of East Washington Heights Baptist church in Washington, D. C. Reverend Glenn B. Fawcett officiated. of-ficiated. The bride wore a French blue gabardine suit with brown accessories and a shoulder bouquet bou-quet of orchids. Miss Gail Cummins was the maid of honor and only attendant of the bride. Howard DeLozier of New Brunswick, N. J., was the bridegroom's best man. The bride was given in marriage by her father. After a small reception, the couple left for New Orleans and other points south, and upon their return will make their home in Washington where Mr. Reese is associated with the strategic air command as technical adviser to headquarters. He served overseas as technical adviser in Egypt and in India. He graduated from Provo high school asd attended BrighAm Young university in Provo and the George Washington university in Washington, D. C. Out-of-town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. C. W.
