Show ociety Sunday; June jl, 1947 Breakfast Planned Todgy tTo HonorGraduates of Nr l Val Norn alumnae today will honor 1.8 graduating seniors sen-iors of the Val Norn social unit with a breakfast at Virginia -Manor at 10 a.m. This is the largest group of seniors to graduate from any social unit during one year. The graduates will be presented with special favors at breakfast, which will be Jthemed with "Centennial Summer." Dorothy Jones, Provo alum, is chairman of the breakfast break-fast with Venice Cottam Bird as toastmistress. Commit-Jtee Commit-Jtee members include Gayle Taylor, Margaret H. Hansen, jNorma Greer, Gayle Taylor, Margaret Price, Norma Gardiner Gard-iner and Marrial Clark. Katherine Hess, past president of French club, solo violinist with tBYU symphony orchestra, and Mrs. Bud Harmon. y Ten of the 18 Val Norn grads are members of White Key, upper class women s nonorary service sorority. i lObye Sisters I To Marry SPRINGVILLE Mr. and Mrs. Bill Obye are making plans for tthe marriage of their daughters, Betty and Lois, to take place in ,the near future. a Betty will become the bride of Don Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. I Howard Smith of Springville, in a ceremony to take place June 18. She was recently given a discharge dis-charge from the WAAC's in which i,she served two years. Mr. Smith is a veteran of the army in World War II. Lois will be wed to Keith Wil-Sson, Wil-Sson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace zWilson. of Payson, in a ceremony set for July 14. He served in the Marines in World War II. Several parties are planned for 'the sisters during the next few 1 weeks. t Mrs. D. L. Cullimore entertained at a pretty bridal shower at the Cullimore canyon home this week. Peggy Lee, bride-elect of Christopher Chris-topher M. Hill, is an accomplished vocalist and sang for her guests. She was accompanied by Mrs. Phyllis Armstrong for some of the numbers and by Ellen Peterson. Mrs. Elsie Bradshaw, also a brilliant bril-liant soloist, furnished selections accompanied by Bruce Lyman. Ann Whiting gave readings. 'Maytime' Is Party Theme A delightful party of Thursday was the May breakfast given by members of Dekatos Literary club and the retiring officers, in compliment to new club officers, at the home of Mrs. Joe Couch. The attractive table appoint ments were carried out with a theme of "Maytime." Miniature dolls, gowned in green, with yel low bonnetts, held gold ribbons, which led to a gay maypole, which centered the table. The dolls also held small gold place cards. Papyrus scrolls were pre sen ted to the new officers, with duties engraved. Corsages of green and yellow, further car ried out the color scheme. Deco rations were in charge of Marian Matheson' and Margaret Hein-richsen. Hein-richsen. New officers included Mrs. Joe Couch, president: Mrs. J. Benson Egan, vice president; Mrs. Clif ford T. Heinrichsen, secretary; Mrs. Clark WJiite, secretary; Mrs. Stanley Clark, Jr., historian and parliamentarian and Mrs. Marian Matheson, entertainment chair man. Retiring officers are Mrs. Glen W. Award Banquet Climaxes Day of Boat Races Here As the climax of the Boat Races on Friday, an award banquet was held at the Memorial Bldg. at Sowiette Park. Section Hears Book Review Mrs. Eldon Payne, chairman this year of Writers' Section of Women's Council, entertained at her home Thursday for members of the section. The afternoon was spent de lightfully with a review of the new book by Margaret P. Maw, "iMicoienes Choice." The review was given by Mrs. Vern Dixon and MrS. Maw added interesting highlights with personal experi ences encountered while writing the book. Corsages were presented to Mrs. Excellent camp fire kindlers can be made at home. L. Finlayson, of Lake View, became the bride of Dewey W. Allfen. Jr.. son of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Allen, of Dover, N. H. in rites performed in the rotunda of First ward chapel by Bishop Alfred Madsen. of Lake View ward, in the presence of family members. The bride wore an aftenoon dress of blue silk with white ac cessories and was attended bv her Bister, Mrs. Lela Haymore, whose husband, Frank Haymore cted as best man. A wedding dinner was served at Chicken Roost, after whk-h a reception was given at First, ward hall. The rooms were decorated with peonies, roses and orange blossoms. For her reception the Mride wore a gown of white nlnon and lace. Her veil flowed from an orange blossom crown. She car ried a bouquet of white gardenias gar-denias and roses. Mary and Helen Haymore. dainty flower firls, wore yellow taffeta frocks and carried colonial bouquets of pansies. Mrs. Haymore, as rhatro"-of-hbnor. wore pink net over satin. Sue Finlayson, Carol Finlayson, Colleen Finlay and Beth Davis were bridesmaids. Mr. and Mrs. F. L-. Finlayson,. with the wedding party, greeted the many guests. The table was covered with an Armenian lace cloth and centered with a large birthday cake In charge in the serving room were Mrs. Chloe and Betty Finlayson. She is now employed in Washington, D. C, where the couple will live until Mr. Allen is released from the service of U. S. navy, in which he has served for five years. To Live Here Interesting newcomers to Provo are Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Cater and their six-year-old son, Roger, who have arrived in Provo from Coventry, England. The trip was made by plane and the family stopped for a brief time in New York City before coming to Utah, to be active in activities of LDS church, of which they are members. Mr. Cater served for six years in military service in England and the family lived in Coventry, which was badly bombed during hostilities. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Blake of Vineyard are host and hostess to the Caters, who plan to establish a home in Provo. Tuesday, they plan to go thru the LDS temple at Salt Lake City.
