Mr. Lancaster graduated from the Alva high school and attended attend-ed Business college in Alva before be-fore entering the service. He has been with the Army air force, stationed- in Alaska, for one and a half years. Bird-Whiting Nuptials Set MAPLETON Mr. and Mrs. Freeman C. Bird announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter. Miss Genevieve Bird, to Stewart C. Whiting, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whiting, also of Maple-ton. Maple-ton. The marriage is planned for September 19, in the Salt Lake temple. The bride-elect is a former student stu-dent of the BYU, and has filled a mission in eastern Canada. Mr. Whiting filled a mission in Teas and served nearly two years in the Navy. He is a former form-er student of the BYU, and plans to continue his studies there this fall. Dancing Friends Make Plans For Formal Fete At a committee meeting held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ken-neth Burns, plans were completed com-pleted for the coming year for members of the Dancing Friends club. The first dance of the season building, Friday, September will be held at the Joseph Smith twentieth. It is to be a formal dance with the theme, "Who's Who, or Let's Get Acquainted." DARRELL English Club Proposed By Provo Couple Announcement is made by Mr. and Mrs. Alvin L. Gittins, of their desire to form a club in Provo, for the purpose of bringing bring-ing together people who are interested in-terested in England. Mrs. Gittins states, "The idea of the club would be primarily to bring together in a social way English G.I. brides, their husbands, hus-bands, LDS missionaries, who have served in England, English-born English-born residents, service men and all others who have some special interest in England. The major purposes of the club would be to discuss 'news from home,' foster Anglo - American relationships, and have an active social group." Johnson of this city and Lynn Wignall, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wignall of Payson. The ceremony uniting the young couple in marriage was perofremd at Elok, Nevada on August 28. The bridegroom's sister honored hon-ored the new Mrs. Wignall with a bride's shower at her home in Payson, with 25 guests in attend ance. Another post-nuptial shower complimenting Mrs. Wignall was given Saturday afternoon from 2 till 5 o'clock at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Jameson of this city. The function func-tion was attended by a host of friends who offered their congratulations. con-gratulations. Bowen and Lucile Liv ingstone was performed Tues day in the Salt Lake temple. For her reception the bride wore an elaborate gown of ivory satin designed with mutton leg sleeves and a band of point lace formed the base of the unique, softly gathered neckline. The V pointed drop waist was finished with sheered cord. She wore three strands of pearls and modeled a fingertip veil of silk net and a starched tiara covered with dainty orange blossoms. Her bouquet was gardenias and bride's roses. Mrs. Ruth Leifson was matron of honor and she was charming in a gown of pink taffeta and carried white gardenias. The bridesmaids modeled pink and blue gowns and similar corsages, they were Mrs. Maurine Snell, Robert Guild, Helen Anderson, Arlene Hales, Colleen Calister and Lila Bowen. The bridegroom's bride-groom's brother, Stewart Bowen, was best man. The parents of the young pair headed the bridal line. Mr. and Mrs. Allam were married Sept. 15, 1896 at Mount Lebonan, which is situated 200 miles north of the Holy Land. Mr. Allam first came to America in 1906 later sending for his wife and children who joined join-ed him in Utah in 1921. Since 1931, the couple have been engaged in chicken ranching. There are three children and 10 grandchildren, who are all living.
