Show Child Abducted By Maid Who May Be Insane KANSAS CITY, Mo.. Sept. 7 (U.R) Police and sheriff's deputies taid today they "fear the worst" In the kidnaping of blonde, three-year-old Madeline Tobias, abducted ab-ducted by a maid who may be insane. " The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Tobias, appealed through newspapers and radio stations for the return of their brown-eyed little girl unharmed. The child mother was near collapse and was under the care of a doctor. For 36 hours the parents had received no word of the missing child. Police were "greatly concerned con-cerned over the lack of information informa-tion since Madeline's disappearance." disappear-ance." The child disappeared from the home of the well-to-do parents at 3 p. m. Thursday after neighbors neigh-bors had seen her walking with the maid. The maid had given her names as Mary Louise King, 19, when the father hired her four days ago. But oolice said it was an alias. "It has definitely become serious," seri-ous," said Lt. Lou Wyatt of the police homicide division. "We have had no word since a truck driver called saying he had given Madeline and the maid a ride to Odessa. 35 miles east of Kansas City, about 6 p. m. Thursday." Lt. Charles Welch, head of the homicide division, said his information infor-mation indicated that the maid may have been a patient of a mental institution.
