Mr. Bliven, a graduate of Stanford Stan-ford university, formerly was head of the department of journalism jour-nalism at the University of Southern California. He has also taught at New York university and Columbia. Before going to the New Republic as managing editor, he was an associate editor of the New York Globe.. Although his journalistic work be is chiefly in the field of politics and other public affairs, his hobby is the progress of science.
