Flynn of Salt Lake, whose home was in 'x Boston, Mass. X The . quiet wedding - was held Saturday, and the couple left for a short trip. They wOl be at home to their friends at. 1651 Laird avenue, Salt Lake City, after August 10. ; Mrs. Flynh a daughter of the late Charles and Josephine Young Carter of Provo, is well known in ProVD, and was prominent in club activities while living here. She is a past president of the Provo Business and Professional Women's Wo-men's club, also, the State Federation Feder-ation of B. P. W. clubs. She is affiliated with Utah Sorosis and Nelke Reading clubs, and is a member of the Provo Soroptimist club. At one time, she was president presi-dent of the Provo Women's Republican Re-publican club. Before moving to Salt Lake, Mrs. Flynn lived in Springville for a few years, and owned and managed the Valley Tavern. Summer Dancing Party Delightfu Members of Utah and Provo stake M.I.A. organizations were guests at a dance in the Joseph Smith ballroom: Friday evening, the second of a summer series. Elbert Startup acted as master of ceremonies -during the- floor show of musical groups, and specialty numbers, and the large crowd was later served refresh ments at a table decorated with bright summer flower arrange-' ments. - Dance committee members were Mr. Startup, chairman; Ralph Britsch. Mrs. Julia Kane, and Mrs. Arma Taylor. The next affair af-fair will be held during August. Announcement Of Marriage Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reece an nounce the marriage of their daughter, Nona, to Glenn Lee Tervort of the U. S. navy, a son of Moroni Tervort of Payson. The event took place July 17 in Salt Lake City. The bridegroom is home on a 30-day leave from service in the Pacific. A large wedding reception recep-tion in honor of the couple will be given by the bride's parents Friday evening in the First ward hall. No special celebration is plan ned except visits from their re spective families. Mrs. Cranmer, who declares she is older by a short time, was married mar-ried to Joseph Cranmer January 4, 1890, at Provo, and they later received their endowments in the Salt Lake temple. The sister, Mrs. Crandall, was married to D. A. Crandall, in the Logan temple January 16, 1888. Both have been active in LDS church work holding offices in the Relief society and Primary or-, ganizatlons. They have been active ac-tive members of the DUP camps in Springville and have taken part in many civic activities. Both are widows and eacn nave a son and a daughter. Mrs. Cranmer son is Frank Cranmer, Springville- and her daughter. Mrs. Ann Nelson, Span ish Fork. I.s line up every afternoon after-noon when Ardith Spalding, daughter of Mrs. Laura E. Spald ing of 73 North Third East, opens her snack bar in the American Red Cross club here. "Ice cream is the attraction,' said Miss Spalding. "If there's one thing the war definitely did not destroy its the G. I.s craving for ice cream. The men will stand in line for a couple of hours just to get a dish of it and some of them will go through the line three times." Miss Spalding should know what the G. I. wants. She has had more than two years' overseas service, first at Port Lyautey, rrencn Morocco, then Mondello, Palermo, and Italy. She recently returned to Italy trom a furlough which she spent in Provo with ner mother. Before her Red Cross abnoint- ment, Miss Spalding was an instructor in-structor of education at the iranne junior high school in Salt Lake City, and also taught in the Salina junior high school. She Is a graduate of the B Y U and later took graduate work at the University Uni-versity of Southern California. Payso A. O. M. 3c Flyd Johnson jias been here on a visit with his parents, Mr. anq Mrs. Vern Johnson John-son at their Spring Lake home. He graduated ffom a naval gunnery gun-nery school -in Florida before coming home 0i furlough and has gone to San Diego to complete his overseas training. He was married recently in. Florida to Miss Allean Allen of Murray, - Utah. She accompanied ac-companied him home and is with him in San Diego. First Lt. Robert Baird, accom panied by his wife and little son, Kooert Jr., arrived last week from St. Joseph, Mississippi where Lt. Baird has been receiving C-46 advanced trainfrig at Rosecrans field. They were guests at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abner Baird and several parties were given in their honor. This is the first leave be has had since May. 1943. He has been in three major battles in the 25 months he has served overseas at British New Guinea, Dutch East Indies and the liberation libera-tion of the Philippines. He served on USS Octans from June, 1943 to Jan. 6. 1945. since that time he has been on New Guinea.
