Comes To Life At Paramount Filmed in vivid technicolor amid the craggy mountains of Utah, the screen version of Mary O'Hara's best selling novel, "My Friend Flicka" ia a classically simple, yet grrat, story. With Roddy McDowall, Preston Foster and Rita Johnson featured, featur-ed, the master motion picture opens today at the Paramount theatre. Capturing the spirit of today's glorious West, the deep and tender love of its womn, and the courage of its rugged men. 'My Friend Flicka" is filled wi.V swift and tumultuous action, as well as being abundant with the rich, natural beauty of Southern Utah. The millions of readers of the novel will bo happy to learn tnat it has been faithfully brought to the screen, following the pattern so successfully used in the film production of other novels notably not-ably 'The Grapes of Wrath," "This Above All, "How Green Was My Valley," and "Thr Moon Is Down." Touchingly and effectively told is the tale of the sensitive young lad and his loye for his filly, Flicka. Roddy MacDowall adds to his reputation in a well-rounded performance of 4'ne lad whose vouthful short-comings are the bane of "his strong-willed father, Preston Foster. Monday Mickey Rooney Scores IV1 On Scera Bill Mickey R&oney gets into legal troubles, finds himself .engaged to two girls, and finally gets started for college after a series of hri-arious hri-arious predicaments in "Andy Hardy's Double Life," which opens at 1 the Sccra theatre tomorrow. The picture opens on the eve of Andy's departure for Wain-wright Wain-wright college. He sells his jalop-py jalop-py to a friend, who gets in an accident ac-cident and Andy is held responsible respon-sible as the owneF of the "car. No sooner is ne out of that trouble that he meets a flirtatious girl, who insists she construes his romantic ro-mantic behavior as a proposal of marriage. Also his father wants to go to college with him and introduce in-troduce him to the president, but Andy knows that will ruin him with his classmates. Finally, he learns that the. girl who insists he proposed is a psychology student, doing so to watch his reactions, and that Polly Pol-ly Benedict, his girl friend is in on the pfci.
