Birthday Is Celebrated Mrs. Tressa Smith entertained members of the Birthday club at her home Thursday evening to honor Mrs. Jane Smith. Five-hundred was played, Mrs. Gladys Smith of Payson winning the high score prize, Mrs. Bessie Smith, consolation favor and Mrs. Sarah Peck, guest award. A delicious luncheon was served, serv-ed, a St. Patrick motif predominating. predom-inating. A large birthday cake centered the dining table, and a lovely gift was presented to the honoree. She left December 26, for Washington, D. C, where she completed a six weeks' course for overseas duty. .Before sailing, she visited in New York City and vicinity, enjoying the many points of interest. Jones, prior to his enlistr ment in the naval air reserve in 1940, attended the BYU for three years and majored in medicine He was a Brigadier. He received his wings from Corpus Christi, Texas, and. was transferred im mediately to the Pacific front, where he has spent the past 16 months. Women Ne To Knit Gloves For Service Men The local Re4 Cross has receiv ed a call from, "headquarters for 100 pairs of gloves for men in the service, to be knitted wiuiin a month's time. Good knitters throughout the city are urged to volunteer for this work, and are to meet in the Red Cross center, fourth floor, county building, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2 to 5 o'clock.
