Mr. Johnson is a son of Mrs. Fern Johnson. He is a graduate of the Lehi high school, and has been employed at Magna. He leaves the middle of the week from Provo to report for army training. Langford, at the army chapel at Fort Ord, California, Califor-nia, immediately following the morning morn-ing services. Announcement of the marriage of the Provoan is made by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ara M. Davis. Corporal KLrkpatrich is a sow of Mr. and Mrs. Hobert Kirkpatrick of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Kirkpatrick, mother of the groom, attended the bride, and Sergeant Alvin Nusz was best man. The bride wore an attractive black and white ensemble, and a corsage of orchids. Mrs. Kirkpatrick wore red roses. Friends of the young couple filled the chapel, and a dinner followed the nuptials. Pennock Pen-nock of Salt Lake City, who, with members of their family, were present for the nuptial rites performed at 7:30 o'clock by Frank J. Earl of the Fourth ward bishopric. . t T 1 l Violin music was played by Grant Ekins, accompanied by his wife, at the piano, and the bride was given in . marriage' by her father. She wore a pretty Princess Prin-cess draped mode!., of subdued blue, with navy accessories and an orchid corsage. A setting .of red, white and blue gladioli proved effective in the living room, and asters, mari golds and black-eyed susans were throughout the house. The dining table was pretty in an all-white arrangement, with a large wedding wed-ding cake forming the centerpiece, flanked on either side with flowers flow-ers and white candles. Mr. and Mrs. Ekins favored with music all evening, and Miss Elaine McCrae sang the solo, "One Kiss." Turner gave a fine talk on "Americanism" at the Navy ' Mothers' club meeting held at the Women's clubhouse Friday afternoon. The session was presided over by Mrs. C. F. Johnson, president, Mrs. A. C. Lambert read an orig- inal Pem. Mrs. Russell Traher and Mrs. G. P. Wiseman sang twoB solos, accompanied by Mrs. Mildred Liljuenquist. A review of the Navy magazine was given by Mrs. L. A. Culbertson. Dusenberry, home on furlough from Eddington field, Houston, Texas. Chairs are badly needed at the Red Cross rooms where dozens of women go to sew and do other war work. The officers must borrow chairs from adjoining adjoin-ing offices in order to provide pro-vide seating for the workers, work-ers, and they would greatly appreciate being relieved of this situation. Just phone the Red Cross office and someone will call at your house for the chairs. Mensel Friday evening at their home, for Miss Virginia Ekins, who is leaving leav-ing soon for London, England, to assume her duties as assistant program director for the British Isles. The young guests assembled at the Lawrence home before going to the park, where all sorts of amusements were enjoyed by tne group. Sewing At Priscilla Club Mrs. Annie Williams entertained entertain-ed at an afternoon of sewing and luncheon, at her home Friday for the Priscilla club members'. Those present were Mrs. I. F. Cowan, Mrs. Walter Adams, Mrs. Agnes Whitecotton, Mrs. Robert Bee, Miss Nora Redfield, Mlsc Lottie Redfield. Mrs. James Booth and Mrs. William Wagner. Steele, another of Provo'a newcomers, new-comers, "we should be able to judge after having been all over the United States." The couple now settled at the Elizabeth apartments, have lived in nine states in the past five years. Mr. Steele is assistant engineer for the Pittsburg Testing Laboratories, La-boratories, at the Geneva Works. He is a concrete engineer. Always keenly interested in ge-o'ogy. ge-o'ogy. Mr. Steele has an able assistant in his wife, who accompanies accom-panies him on all his trips, Both are lovers of the out-of-doors, and during their short stay here, have covered more territory t hah many life-long Provoans. They have visited all of the canyons nearby, and at Bryce canyon this week end. They particularly enjoyed en-joyed their trip around Utah lake, and their visits to the copper cop-per mines in Salt Lake and the properties in Price, and have many interesting specimins to add to their large collection at their home in Pittsburg, Pa. Both enjoy bridge, concerts and all outdoor sports. Mrs. Steele does much handwork and belongs to the Red Cross, and Mr. Steele is a member of the Elks lodge. Mr. Olson arrived Friday from Camp Robinson, near LittLe Rock, Arkansas, where he is stationed. The couple will leave the end of the week for Little Rock. Beta Sigma Phi Starts Season An interesting session of Beta Sigma Phi was held Wednesday evening at the home of Miss Jennie Jen-nie Freckleton, with Miss Shirley Weight, president, in charge. The lesson on "The Person Beautiful," was given by Mrs. Donna L. Johnson, and plans were made for attending the state convention con-vention at the Newhouse hotel in Salt Lake City, Sept. 12 and 13. Refreshments were served.
