" Guests were served at small tables. 1 Words of welcome were expressed by Mrs. Howard "Olsen, president, and prayer was offered by Mrs. M. A. Kirk and Mrs. Hyrum Baird. Navy Mothers Club Growing . ' In Membership A Provo organization which has come Into prominence since the United States entry into World war No. II, and during the year preceding, is the Navy Mothers' club, now boasting a membership of 46 proud mothers. The club was organized Sept. 3, 1937, with only eight members, and with Mrs. Ruth Vincent as eommander. The charter was made and sealed June 30, 1038, 16 mem bers' names being included. During-the years which followed, follow-ed, this small group of women met ' monthly to carry out the purpose ' of the club, chiefly to help take care of the Navy men's families, and to assist the orphan boys in the navy. Now, with Uncle Sam's boys again protecting land and sea, and with many Provo boys In the Navy, the club of mothers is coming to the foreground in both ' prominence and activity. Mrs. Josie Johnson is commander comman-der at the present time. - An IntftnaiVA nmri'ttm fa aIImv. ed by the women Not only do they assist the Navy boys and thelr families but now in war- time they must raise money to send to the hospitality homes In service men's clubs throughout the country. At Christmas. Thanks- giving and on other such holidays, they send cards and packages to all the boys from Provo, and they assist in the homes of Navy boys who died for their country. .' This year, the- club has pur- chased two defense bonds; and has been assisting with Red Cross work, both In sewing and in the drives. Also, they are helping with knitting sweaters and other articles. Annually, they make the ' Bundles for Blue Jackets', Readers' Guild Dinner Party The third birthday anniversary of the Readers' Guild was celebrated cele-brated at a dinner party given at the home of Mrs. O. D. Hansen, Friday afternoon. Mrs. Hansen was chairman of the delightful function, assisted by Mrs. Dean Anderson, Mrs. Seth Smoot and Miss Virla Blrrell. The long dining table was gay with bowls of daffodils and tapers, ta-pers, and a prettily trimmed birthday cake, in the colors green and yellow. As favors, leather book jnarks were given. . . Mrs. Richard Knight sang two beautiful solos, accompanied by Mrs. Lewis Allen. Those attending: the lovely in formal affair were: Mrs. Dean A Anderson. Mrs. . The bride was lovely in a gown of white brocaded satin, with fingertip veil, caught with lily-of-the-valley. Her bouquet bou-quet was of pale pink bride's roses, gladioli and lily-of-the-valley. Attending as maid of honor was her sister, Yvonne Edwards, who was frocked in blue lace, and wore a corsage of red roses and gardenias. Vern Warner of Spanish Fork, was best man. A wedding supper immediately followed the ceremony, guests being served at one long taUe centered with a four-tiered four-tiered wedding cake, beautifully decorated and topped with a tiny bride and groom. The young couple left for a short trip and will make their home in Spanish Fork.
