' Ah open session of the Nineteenth Century club, tendered tend-ered Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Edwin F. Irwin, proved one of the most enjoyable social functions of the past Mrs. Milan R. Straw of Springville, chairman of the department de-partment of international relations, Utah Federation of Women's Wom-en's clubs, was the speaker of the afternoon, and she gave an exceptionally well prepared paper on "The American System Sys-tem the Story of Our Foreign Policy." - Mrs. Irwin, president, welcomed the members and guests, and introduced Mrs. Straw. Mrs. II. B. Mensel arranged the music, which Included two vocal 111 solos. "My Own United States," and "The Flaar Without a Stain, by Mrs. F. Blaine Ward, who was accompanied by Mrs. '.. Marvin Oease. Mrs. Gease later played a melody of patriotic aires and her own arrangement of "Sylvia." During the tea hour, a variety of beautiful Hawaiian vocal and instrumental' selections were furnished fur-nished by Odetta Kama, Lorraine Koba and George Lake. " The tea table was lovely with a lace cloth, and a crystal bowl of daffodils and narcissus. Pale yellow yel-low tapers burned in crystal holders, hold-ers, andcut flowers and potted plants were arranged throughout the house.. Mrs. J. J. Winter presided pre-sided at the table,, and Mrs. R. C. Street and Mrs. WVI Smith had the tea In charge. . Mrs. S. E. Price was chairman of the program committee, assisted by Mrs. George Larsen and Mrs. Fred Elledge.
