The theme of the meeting was "Fine Arts" and the program specialized in music. Mrs. Fern Bmckbank gave an interesting talk on "Modern Trends in Music"; Mu-sic"; Mrs. Edna Brockbank, "Contemporary "Con-temporary Musicians, Composers and Players"; Mrs. Leslie Hales spoke on "Legislation from the Federated Department Women's Clubs." Mrs. Fern Brockbank and Mrs. Florence Faux entertained with a piano duet, followed by a piano solo by Mrs. Brockbank. Carl M. Jacobsen played violin selections with Mrs. Jacobsen, accompanist; ac-companist; Miss Cora Gardner, three accordion selections; Mrs. Grace Krueger, two vocal solos, with Miss Beth Krueger, accompanist. accom-panist. President Sent to Bed With Grippe WASHINGTON, Feb. 1U UJ President Roosevelt was suffering from a slight attack of grippe today and all White House engagements en-gagements were cancelled. Dr. Ross T. Mclntyre, White House physician, said Mr. Roosevelt's Roose-velt's temperature was 99 6 one degree of fever. He instructed the chief executive to remain in bed today. White House Secretary Stephen T. Early said Mr.' Roosevelt likely would be confined to bed over the week end. All engagements, including in-cluding the usual Friday morning press conference, were cancelled. "He has a light touch of grippe," Early said.
