Phone 618 7 Brigadiers At Function In Salt Lake Delightful from beginning to end, and as smart a function as has been given this season, was the annual formal dinnre-dance of the "Y" Brigadiers, held Saturday evening at the Newhouse hotel in Salt Lake City. The theme, "Putting on the Dog," was cleverly worked into the decorations, "dogs" being much in prominence as motifs for the combination place cards-favors, cards-favors, and for the programs, all in the unit colors, silver and black. The large illuminated unit shield was a feature attraction. A lively floor show was arranged arrang-ed by Otis Burton, master of ceremonies, and included three numbers from Salt Lake entertainers, enter-tainers, as well as appearances' by unit members. This also was carried car-ried out in the "dog" theme, Puppy Love,' "Going to the Bow-wows," etc. The University of Utah's Umon building Swing band furnished the music for dancing. Special guests included: Dr. and Mrs. Stanley M. Clark, Jack R. Gibb and Miss Helen Clark. Committee members and their partners and unit officers bade the guests "good night" at the close of the affair, the officers including: Joseph Pace, president; Martell Bird, vice president, and Gordon Christensen, treasurer. Milton E. Jacob was chairman, assisted by Scott Benson, Don Conover, Ariel Davis and Stanley Clark. The affair ia to be in the form of a 1:30 o'clock bridge-luncheon, and during the afternoon, the beautiful silk quilt -recently completed com-pleted by the sewing 'committee, with Mrs. Seymour Gray as chairman, chair-man, is to be given away. In keeping with the "carnival" theme, the dining hall was colorfully color-fully decorated with hundreds of balloons, and festoons of varicolored vari-colored serpentines hanging from the ceiling. The two long banquet ban-quet tables were gay with novel decorative features, created from carnival horns, caps and fun-makers, which the guests claimed after dinner. Mrs. M. W. Merrill, president, welcomed the group, and introduced intro-duced Mrs. Hugo Price as toast-mistress. toast-mistress. The following program was enjoyed: Toast, "To the Husbands," Mrs. Dan Hunter; trio. Mrs. Herald R. Clark, Mrs. Almo B.
