Grant receiving the prize for high score among the members, and Mrs. Philda Finley the guest prize, Mrs. J. W. Clark received the consolation favor. A tasty luncheon concluded the party, being be-ing .served to twelve club members and Mrs. J. W. Phillips, Mrs. Helen Dillingham, Mrs. Coe Nelson and Mrs. Finley, special guests. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Boyer, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Crandall, and ! Dwain Spafford of this city, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Olsen at their home in Salem, Wednesday night. Worthen of Provo and Department Adjutant Otto A. Wiesley of Salt Lake City were the principal speakers during the evening. A discussion of the Americanization and community service programs, as outlined by the national Legion organization, was given by the visiting state officials. H. T. Reynolds, Jr., national committeeman committee-man also spoke briefly during the evening. Music was furnished by Earl Mendenhali of Mapleton, who gave vocal solos, accompanied by Mrs.1 La Celle Sumsion. CLARK CARTER, Reporter 1 1 Mr. and Mrs. Mark E. Kartchner were guests of honor at a missionary mission-ary farewell Wednesday, in the Grand View ward chapel. The following fol-lowing program was given: a saxophone sax-ophone solo by Mr. Dean Nuttall; a short talk by Mr. David John son, Raymond Partridge and Adel- bert Bigler played two numbers on string instruments. Remarks were made by Mr. and Mrs. Kartchner and Bishop Stratton. Dancing followed fol-lowed the program. Many friends and relatives attended the party among them were several fellow j M. I. A. stake board members. They were Mr. and Mrs. Joy Clegg, ( Mr. and Mrs. James Ferguson, Mr. ; and Mrs. Wilford Larson, Mr. and Mrs. K. Nielson. Mrs. Kartchner was presented with a Handsome gift by Mrs. Clegg in behalf of the board. Mr. and Mrs. Kartchner will leave Sunday for Hawaii, where they will join their son, Harold and labor as missionaries j for six months. They have sent j five sons and one daughter on I missions. Mrs. Glen Jepperson who underwent under-went a serious operation at the Aird hospital Wednesday morning, morn-ing, is reported to be getting along fine. Cgg) 4 us WEST CENTER PHONE 25 SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8, Jordan Services Set For Monday MAPLETON- Funeral services for Fielden Jordan who died Friday Fri-day at a Provo hospital, following a major operation three days before, be-fore, will be held Monday, at 2 m., in, the Mapleton ward chapel, with burial in the Evergreen Ever-green cemetery, under the direction direc-tion of Claudin funeral home. Friends may call at the Claudin funeral home until Monday, when the body will be taken to the Jordan, Jor-dan, home in Mapleton. Mr. Jordan was born in Philps, Ind., September 4, 1870, a son of William and Melvina Felp Jordan. He lived in Indiana until 1900. when, he came to Mapleton. He married Emily Schramm in the Salt Lake tmeple, June 28, 1907. Surviving besides the widow are two daughters and a son, Mrs. Mildred J. Osguthorpe, Mrs. Helen. J. Marz of Salt Lake City and Lawrence F. Jordan of Mapleton: two sisters, Mrs. Martin Walter, Provo; Mrs. J. H. Hedlt, Elbers Feld, Ind.; one grandson.
