The Cavemen got off to a slow start in the first half but have been coming along fast since losing los-ing to Provo. Lehi dropped a game to A. F. as also did Pleasant Grove, one of the other strong teams of the loop. American Fork's scoring center, cen-ter, Lee, will probably cause Provo Pro-vo the most trouble Friday. The Bulldogs got in the game with but on injury--Reed Nilsen is still nursing a badly bad-ly sprained ankle. Nilsen Won't Start Coach Glenn Simmons said to-dt'that to-dt'that Nilsen would not start Friday's game. Gordon Crane will be at Nllsen's guard job. Opposite Crane will be, Glen Gardner. Either Bob Cook or Kay Thunnan will start at the center job. Thurman was out for a couple of weeks' with an infected knee and during that time Cook took over his duties in a very com-x com-x mendable fashion. So commendable commend-able in fact, that Coach Simmons the Cavemen. Captain Monte Peterson and Ray Nash will undoubtedly start at forwards. Nash has been turning turn-ing in some good games and is expected to continue his scoring Friday. The Bulldogs have been scrimmaging scrim-maging heavily for the final contest con-test and Coach Simmons has been guarding a let down. Barring injuries, in-juries, the Provo club should be at near top shape for American Fork. Francis, Maynard Elected Captains Of Wrestling Team Brigham Young university wrestlers today noon elected Malin Francis, Morgan, and Ken Maynard, Riverton, co-captains for the 1940 season. Francis, who wrestles at 121 pounds, and Maynard, who took care of the 155 pound class this year, are both sophomores. Maynard May-nard won second in the' division meet at Salt Lake City ten days ago. Both varsity boys received four votes at a meeting of eight letter-men. letter-men. Beard Contest Gets 'Hair-Raising Start Gettng off to a hair-raising start, senior and junior men at Brigham Young university registered regist-ered Tuesday for the annual beard growing contest between the two clases. The contest will end March 13. Judges of the event w3l be Mar-jorie Mar-jorie Killpack, senior, of Idaho Falls, Ida.; and Florence Stevens, junior of El Paso, Tex. In charge of registration of the entrants were members of the White Keyl service organization who shaved the contestants before they were allowed to register. Only those men who registered Tuesday will be eligible for prizes. Prizes will be given to the men raising the longest, shortest, most colorful, most romantic, curliest, thinnest, reddest, and best all-around all-around beard, according to the judges. Blake, 27, transient charged with second .degree burglary burg-lary in connection with the Morton Mor-ton Jewelry store robbery of January 31, will toe brought to Provo for trial if Ogden authorities author-ities fail to convict him for a burglary allegedly committed there, Chief Henry East declared today. Chief East, together with Officer Of-ficer Earl Finlayson, were in Ogden Og-den Monday, where they questioned question-ed Blake, held for trial there. Blake was in possession of pawn tickets received when he allegedly sold the jewelry taken from Morton's store to Salt Lake City shops several days later. Blake was caught red-handed by Ogden police when he com mitted a burglary there similar to the Provo job, according to the chief. He is wanted in Wisconsin at the present time for violation of parole. Blake committed the Provo and Ogden burglaries in precisely the same manner, according to Chief East.
