Industrial organizations organ-izations have 372 square miles, 66 of which were for pulp and paper mills, 123 for lumber companies, 32 for mining companies, 4 for railroads, 83 for water and power companies. Other organizations planted 41 square miles. Schools and colleges planted 15, and various vari-ous individuals planted 109 square miles. Colorado River Problems Aired SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 7 (US'.) Delegates to lite eeven-state Colorado River water conservation parley met Thursday in the capi-tol capi-tol to outline a comprehensive water conservation plan for the area. Representatives from New Mexico, Mex-ico, Colorado, Arizona, California, Nevada, Wyoming and Utah, appointed ap-pointed a river conference in Phoenix, Phoe-nix, Ariz., earlier in the year, attended at-tended the session, the first of a two-day series of meetings. - Judge Clifford H. Stone, Denver, temporary chairman of the body, said that besides working out pro posed conservation policies, the claims of Old Mexico to Colorado river water would, bewcpnsidered. "We are going to discuss also the proposal of Arizona for a bridge canyon dam on the Colorado Colo-rado river," Judge Stone said. "The development of the Colorado river water supply must be outlined out-lined as soon as possible. We hope to accomplish much at this first series of meetings." The roposed Arizona project would impound 2,500,000 jacre feet of water and would be; capable cap-able of generating 800,000 horsepower horse-power of hydro-electric energy. SPANISH FORK A : uii. The government gov-ernment Thursday grant autonomy auton-omy within the remnants of the Czechoslovakia republic to the Slovaks. Josef Tiso, leader of the people's peo-ple's autonomy party of the late Father Andrej Hlinka. which is the chief Slovak party,' was appointed ap-pointed minister for Slovakia in the new cabinet of premier Jan Syrovy. He also was appointed premier of a separate Slovak cabinet which he is forming. Under the new autonomy, Slovakia Slo-vakia wil lhave its own provincial diet and cabinet, but within the framework of Czechoslovakia. The population of the republic roughly consists of about 6.000.000 Czechs and 3,000,000 Slovaks. The Galapagos Islands are named for the giant tortoises which were so numerous there at one time.
