Mendenhall spent last week in Ogden where ner son, Harold Mendenhall, underwent under-went an operation for acute appendicitis ap-pendicitis at the Dee Memorial hospital. Following the initiatKia ritual conducted by club officers, plans for the year were discussed and the group enjoyed games and re freshments. New members inducted in-ducted were: Mary Louise Win- gate, LaJeune Whitney, Merle Fletcher, Ruth Crandall, Beulah Whiting. "On Friday, new members of the Boosters' club entertained the old members at a luncheon, at the high school. They later participated par-ticipated in a snake dance to stimulate interest in the Provo-Springville Provo-Springville football game About 20 girls were in attendance. Dr. Samuel Paul and son, Sam, and G. M. P. Dougall of Salt Lake City, spent the week end as guests of Hugh Dougall at the Dougall ranch in Hobble Creek canyon. Accompanied by their son, Arvil Stewart of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Stewart and son Loyd of this city, have recently re turned from a two weeks' enjoy able trip to California. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Stewart's sons. James ana Joe, and daugh ter, Mrs. Edna Cooper, at Los Angeles. En route they also spent some time at Boulder dam and at Bryce and' Zion canyons. Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Peterson Peter-son returned home early this week from California, where they went to meet the former's son, Carl, who has returned from a two years' mission in the Ha waiian Islands. The group visited a number of interesting places Jenkins Inspects Saltbed Trades SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 6 (U.E) -Ab Jenksins, the west's premier speed driver, today laid plans for an assault on automobile endurance endur-ance records most of which are held by himself with his new car, Mormon Meteor HI. Jenkins planned to inspect the circular endurance track on the Bonneville salt flats, with an eye to making record attempts as soon as the flats get in shape. The salt beds are reported to be in poor shape at present. Plans for a super-speed run, shooting at the 357.50 miles per hour world land speed record set Sept. 16 by Capt. George E. T. Eyston of England, were lndefin ite. Family Loses All When Home Burns SPRINGVILLE Neighbors and friends Wednesday were devising plans by which to assist the Bert Brailsford family to secure living quarters and bedding and clothing, cloth-ing, all of which were destroyed bv fire which conrmletelv de molished their 3-room frame home ;jfMr- and Mrs here, Tuesday forenoon. Damage was estimated at approximately $1000 with no insurance. The mother and father had gone to work and their two elder children to school leaving two small children at home alone.
