' Isabelle Dillman was chairman on arrangements, assisted by Le- tha Harris, May Carey and Beth Guymon. Starry balloons formed a sky, the beauty of which was enhanced through the use of spotlights. Large floor baskets of tulips, lilacs and spring blossoms were employed about the hall, and the small serving tables held center pieces of sweet peas and tapers. A large bowl of lavender Bweet peas and roses waft arranged on ihe center table. Programs and place cards featured a half-moon design, and as favors the guests were presented with handsome copper book-ends bearing the in scription, "Thalians." The event was truly one of the most attractive formals of the neason. Y- Club Party Given A meeting of the Eludoncy club was held Friday evening at the home of Miss A zona Parr. Enevonte Club At Dinner, Cards Miss Nateila Nelson and Jessie Payne entertained for members of the Enevonte club at the Nelson home Saturday evening. After a delicious dinner, pro gressive 500 was played. Mr. and Mrs. Bernell Perry winning the high score favor and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Dixon the second prize. Mr. and Mrs. Emeron Walt were guests, and the following members were present: Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Peterson gave a dinner at their home Sunday Sun-day for their family. Lovely flowers of the eeaicm were used in decorating. Tea' Given By O.S. The Frank T. Bennett residence was tne scene 01 a cnarming Mother's day tea Sunday, when members of the O. S. Alumnae entertained for . their mothers and for the active members of the B. Y. U. social unit and their mothers. Seventy-five guests called, and were received by Mrs. Betty H. Westwood, president; Miss Mae Bennett, Mrs. Delenna T.- Taylor and Mrs. Monta W. Anderson. They wore dainty corsages of pansies. During the afternoon, beautiful harp music was played by Miss Marjorie Mensel. The tea table held a lovely bowl of yellow and lavender tulips and slender tapers in the pastel shades, and was covered with an exquisite lace cloth. Apple blossoms and lilacs were arranged throughout the rooms. Mrs. Mabel Speckart and Miss Belle Fillmore poured and Mrs. Cecil C. Dixon and Mrs. Anna P. Ercanbrack will speak on "Interior "Inter-ior Decorating," and special music has been planned. As - "til .:..SSS Outgoing and incoming officers of the Utah county board of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers were feted Saturday afternoon at the Edna Mae Hedquist home, the delightful party being gtveri by the county board. Bowls of tulips and lilacs beautifully beau-tifully decorated tne table, and a delicious tuncheon was served. Mrs. Sarah Passey, county president, presi-dent, welcomed the women and introduced Mrs. Emma Jones, chairman on arrangements, who presided. Assisting Mrs. Jones in planning the affair were Mrs. Sophia Beck, Mrs. Mabel Kirk and Mrs. Florence Baird. Two vocal duets were rendered bv Mrs. Doyle Dastrup and Mrs Reed Averett, accompanied by Mrs. Zenith Johnson; tribute to the present officers, Mrs. Nora B. Ingersoll; two vocal and guitar duets. Mrs. Nellie Buuock ana Mrs. Leah Wheeler: three read ings, Mrs. Fern Ercanbrack; tribute trib-ute to nast officers. MrS. -Passey, who presented pioneer pins to Mrs. Mary T. Dahlquist, retiring president; Mrs. saran iummmga, and Mrs. Beulah Henrichsen, re tiring first vice president andS secretary, respectively. Responses followed. Everyone is invited and transportation will be provided if necessary, cars to leave from the meeting house at 7:30 o'olock. Those attending are to take their own weiners and buns, and the program is in charge of the Boy Scouts, with T. William Jones and Lorin Scott directing. Calendar FOURTH WARD Ward honor night will be ob served and the following program will be furnished by representa tives from the various classes: The Gleaners, under the direction of Mrs. Helen Dixon, will present a dramatization of "The Fisher man's Hut," taken from "North To the Orient," by Anne Morrow Lindbergh; Maurice Lambert, re presenting the "M" Men, will fur nish a piano solo; A. L. Booth of the adult clas3, will speak; the Ju nior girls will sing; Mrs. Norma P. Wright, director of drama, will read; Mrs. Garn Clark and Miss Mary McGregor, music directors, will fling; Glen Gardner and Don McAffee of the Boy Scouts, will play a clarinet duet and the Bee Hive chorus will sing. Bee Hive honor badges are to be awarded. All parents are invited. A guitar quartet will play, the personnel per-sonnel of which comprises Clyde Anderson, Betty Roper. Beth Knudsen and Esther Hatch. There will be a nursery for the children. A simple white evening gown of heavy marocain achieves undisputed' un-disputed' originality by the encrusted, en-crusted, softly swathed belt of bright blue and silver pailletes worked in a diagonal effect. The tailored iacket is also entirely embroidered in blue and silver paiiletes. The ensemble is signed Mainbochen (qngratulations 1$ W. F. Ah-Iander, Ah-Iander, which won for the sixth ward Relief society, the historic quilt prize at the Women's Institute In-stitute in Salt Lake City. Little Colleen Collins will d,- nee, and Mrs. May Harris will furnieh ac-cordian ac-cordian numbers. Refreshments will be se' 'ed. A small silver offering of-fering will be received. Coronation Ball At Sixth Ward A coronation and confetti ball will be priven by the Sixth j ward M. I. A. Tuesday evening in the amusement hall, the affair to be the closing M. I. A. dance of the season. A good orchestra has been secured se-cured and the public is cordially invited to attend. A small admission admis-sion charge is to be made. The Dixon junior ju-nior high boys' chorus, under the direction of Alfred Swenson, will sing three numbers, and Miss Rheta Kay of the Farrer junior high will present some of her special students who will furnish music. The residence of Prof, and Mrs. Harrison R. Merrill was the scene of a quiet wedding Sunday at high noon, when Beatrice Howell, -daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Howell of Clifton. Idaho, became the bride of Ralph Owen Merrill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph B. Merrill of Clifton, and a nephew of Prof. Merrill. Bishop W. O. Facer of the Fifth ward officiated. The bride wore a lovely gown of blue, and a dainty corsage. Immediately following the ceremony, cere-mony, a wedding dinner was served. serv-ed. A bowl of lilacs and a wedding wed-ding cake proved attractive as table appointments. Covers were laid for the bride and groom; Prof. and Mrs. Merrill, Herman Henderson Hen-derson of Clifton, cousin of the bride, and Quil Merrill, brother of the groom. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill will make their home in Provo. Mr. Merrill, a former B. Y. U. student, being employed as bookkeeper at the Consolidated Wagon and Machine company. f- Marjorie Boshard Tendered Farewells A farewell party was given at the home of Donna Mae Ash ton for Marjorie Boshard who is leaving to make her home in California. Cootie was played, the high score prize going to Charlotte Henriod, and the consolation favor fav-or to Ardith Jensen. Those present were: Marjorie Boshard. Elayne Peterson, Charlotte Char-lotte Henriod, Dorothy Prusse, Ardith Jensen, Virginia Larsen Afton Woffinden and the hostess.
