Maline Sumner, librarian, explains ex-plains that schools have better equipped libraries, and as business conditions improve adults have less leisure time for reading. While the library had a total of 267 more books January 1, 1937, than a year ago, more than 326 books and magazines were stolen during the year. Two-hundred-seventy of the losses were in the adult department, 50 in the junior division, and six were magazines. A budget increase of $1,000 resulted re-sulted in purchase of more books. A total of $2,038.77 was spent in 1936, an increase of $276.77 over 1935. Of the total 2,369 books added last year, 413 were donated by civic clubs of Ptovo including Rotary, Kiwanis, Nineteenth Century, Cen-tury, and the Business and Professional Pro-fessional Women's clubs.
