Brockbank, Mrs. Mrs. R. H. Andrus, Mrs. E. E. Knudsen, Miss Laura Shepherd and Mrs. Sarah Shepherd. The hostess was assisted in serving by her daughters, Jayne and Beth Evans and Miss Beth Kruger. The feature of the evening's entertainment en-tertainment was a review of the book, "The Testament of Youth," by Vera Britton, given by Mrs. Allan O. Brockbank; Mrs. Grace Krueger sang two vocal solos, with her daughter, Beth playing the accompaniment . Mrs. James Swenson was hostess host-ess to the Ladies' Literary club FYiday afternoon of last week. There were 15 members present. Miss Frances Christensen, Home economics teacher at the high school gave a talk on "Table Etiquette" and demonstrated the proper setting of the table. At six o'clock luncheon was served by the hostess assisted by her mother, Mrs. Thurgurda Snell and her son Glen and daughter, Martha Mar-tha Swenson. v Mrs. Clark Williams is spending two weeks in Salt Lake City visiting visit-ing with Mrs. Don C. Miller. Mrs. Maggie Stewart was hostess host-ess to the Beta Bridge club Monday Mon-day evening. Luncheon was served at the card tables at 8 o'clock. Four tables of Contract bridge followed, Mrs. Marie Nelson Nel-son winning the high score for the club, Mrs. Hazel Hughes the second high and Mrs. Eliza Nelson for the guests. Evans and Mrs. Lola Argyle. i Honoring Mrs. Ellis .-Fuller, a group of relatives gathered at the home Thursday evening and enjoyed en-joyed a delightful evening, the occasion was the birthday anniversary anni-versary of Mrs. Fuller. At 10 o'clock refreshments were served to 12. Members of the Fidelous club were honored guests at a delightful delight-ful party given by their husbands, Saturday night of last week. The crowd first went to the home of Mrs. Alene Meldrum where a delicious hot chicken dinner was served. Following dinner the crowd went to he home of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Taylor where progressive 500 was played, Mrs. Eleanor Jarvis and Mrs. Vera Williams winning the first and second high scores respectively. BeverMge, manager man-ager of WPA District No. 3, and W. H. Callahan, Utah county welfare wel-fare manager, in a meeting at the Fairer Junior high school. A .committee .comprised of W. L. Mann, Kirt Madsen and Francis Grant was chosen to work with sponsors of projects in an effort to get the projects started and cut down the "starvation" , period between be-tween projects. The worker also decided to invite in-vite Paul Peterson, state head of the American Federation of Labor, to speak at a Provo meeting and explain the program of that organization or-ganization and to hold another meeting to which state WPA officials of-ficials will be invited. "The WPA program is an opportunity op-portunity to make- a poor living until you can get a better job," Mr. Beveridge said. In the opinion of Mr. Beveridge the clause is unjust which prevents pre-vents men working on the WPA program who were not on relief between May 1 and November 1. tary-treasurer of the association.
