Hie-h School The ninth , grade Biology class, under the 'direction of Miss Edna Snow has "been studying the indentification and plant structure of trees. We nave made a few Held trips ana are learning something about the function of the different parts of plants. We hope that someday we will be able to walk through the streets of Provo and identify the trees as we go along. Carol Oaks The eighth grade history class, under the instruction of Miss Billie Hollingshead, is enjoying their work immensely this year. We started out by studying the Italo-Ethiopian situation. When we had studied it thoroughly we started studying international peace efforts. This of course led us onto a study of the World War. We are taking up both sides of it and reading books con-ceungit. con-ceungit. Each student is taking an activity about the World war, fiucA 'as, singing songs, showing show-ing pictures and maps, and telling tell-ing stories and poems. When we get through studying the World War we hope to know a great deal about it. Isabelle Hales Doris Bunnell, Editor; Clinton Wiest AfocIated Editor PARKER SCHOOL We have been studying about eggs. What they are used for and where we get them. We went on a trip to the Utah Poultry Producers plant. We learned many things. We found out that they send many eggs to New York. We saw how they make boxes. They gave us many lables they use on theii cases of eggs. They have flour and feed for animals and chickens for sale We passed the Provo Bakery, The city and county building, Library, tabernacle. Crane hospital. hos-pital. We saw the big train go to the Union depot. We passed the Herald office. Interurban Depot, the post office, drug store, bank and then we went to Hansen's candy factory. Mr. Hansen gave each of use an all-day sucker and a Wrigley man gave each of us a stick of gum. We had a very good time. We want to go on more trips.-Mrs. Burningham's room. SEVENTH GRADE READING In the seventh grade reading class, which is taught by Mr. Lee, we have been reading poetry about the different seasons and stories about nature. We have read many interesting things. We read one story called "Spiders and Their Ways" that was especially es-pecially interesting. Some of the Children brought spiders and we watched them in the different things they did. We are almost through with nature and we hope the next topic will be as interest-intr interest-intr n this one Rpvprlv .Ipnsnn Friday, the Brigham Young university junior and senior high schools were dismissed for the L. D. S. conference. Some of us went to Salt Lake City to the conference and some of us stayed at home and listened to it over the radio. We enjoyed . the conference con-ference holiday and are looking forward to the next one which comes in April. Joan Berg. In the fifth grade we are studying study-ing about the historical background back-ground of our country. We are interested in-terested in the Indians who were here when Columbus landed on Oct. 12. 1492. We r.i'.ve our Hallowe'en decorations decora-tions ready too. Jean Wilkins The fourth, fifth and sixth grades of the Parker school had a school dance. Thursday at the Farrer junior high school. They sold candy. Everyone enjoyed the dance. Clinton Wiesjt The third grade is studying Indians. We find it very interesting. interest-ing. Some of the boys and garls have brought Indian things for an exhibit. Weldon, Eddie, Earl W., Mark, Dick and Ivan have made us a cupboard for our exhibits. We are going to have a play for our mothers and fathers. - Eddie Collins In home economics class which Miss Virginia Booth teaches, we have been starting to make a j shoe bag. They are made of gayly colored cretonne. They will be made both, by- hand -and hy..jqaJ chine. We have chosen a tape to match, with which we shall bind the shoe bag. Later on, we shall make articles, whice we are es- The Third grade have the following follow-ing offices: President, Harold Ashton; Vice President, La Rae Reynolds; Reporter, Earl Wiest. This week is fire prevention week, so the Parker school had a fire drill Tuesday. The teachers and students talked about fires and discussed what to do. We decided de-cided not to push or crowd while we went out of the building. Miss Leichty's room The First grade is making a playhouse corner.
