Manniquins in heavy tweeds and fur coats, wore the new Chanut gloves of glace kid, finished with huge cuffs of silvered silver-ed metal. A dramatic touch to an otherwise conservative ensemble, ensem-ble, although the same gloves are suggested by authorities as chic accompaniments for the more fragile cocktail costumes. In white or dark colors, these snug-fitting snug-fitting gloves enhance the daintiness dainti-ness of the hands by the contrasting contrast-ing lines of the flared, outstanding cuff which is finished with inter-lacings inter-lacings of the kid. Belts have come to the fore as an important .costume accessory. In many of the Paris . showings, frocks depended largely on their belts to give that special note of chic, especially those which start out being quite narrow, tapering to very wide fronts and studded (the front only) with large metal decorations, plaques and nails, are the latest fashion whim. Materials- have gone rough in an unprecedented manner, combining com-bining in their intricate weaves all of the primary colors. While these pure, bright colors are sponsored for frocks and suits, accessory colors are much more subtle in their tones, with such ravishing fall tints as cantal brown, beetroot and a new green, taking the lead. Worth is featuring Chanut's two piece gloves of suede for daytime day-time wear, and glace kid of four and six button lengths, in light and dark tones, for more "dressy" occasions. There is a noted trend however, in the glove world this season, toward glace kid, to 1 'fc, Vrf ProTO Herald Fashion accompany everything but sports clothes. ; According to Rochas. cocktail and dinner dresses are smartest when fashioned of black materials. fDull black crepe or chiffon were the mediums chosen for many of the gowns of this type at the opening, decorated with large black velvet inserts on full sleeves and bodice. Black velvet belts and the Chanut gloves with leather palms completed the charming picture. For formal evening wear however, the scene is brighter the pastel gowns accented with artificial flowers of velvet and Chanut velvet gloves in brilliant contrasting shades.
