Elmer Jacobsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. . Elmer Jacobsen of Provo, which took place Saturday, October Octo-ber 7, in Washington, D. C. The nuptial event was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Johnson (Beth Maiigum) and was attended by a group of 35 Utah friends now living in Washington. Dr. and Mrs. Call were present. A reception followed. The prominent young couple will reside in Washington, where Mr. Jacobsen is employed in the auditing audit-ing department of the U. S. department depart-ment of Agriculture. Mrs. Hannah Stewart is spending two weeks at Provo with Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Crandall. Arthur Stewart, Mrs. Effie Dart, Mrs. Robert Rob-ert Jex and Miss Theda Jex accompanied accom-panied her to Provo for a briel visit. Mrs. Lillian Sorenson left Saturday Satur-day for her home in Los Angeles after spending ten days visiting relatives here and at Salem. Mrs. Vera Williams was hostess at a pleasing birthday party Satur day afternoon from lour to six o'clock in honor of the sixth anniversary anni-versary of her little daughter Elaine. There were 14 little friends present. Games were played under the direction of Sonoma Williams, Wilma Maland and Lily Stewart. A delicious luncheon was served at 5 o'clock, Mrs. Jex Boyack assisting assist-ing the hostess. A birthday cake with candles was enjoyed by the children. Mrs. Margaret Zabriskie was hostess to the O. D. O. club at their luncheon-bridge Wednesday evening. eve-ning. Autumn flowers decorated the tables and rooms. Luncheon was served at 2:30. Booth returned home Monday following an interesting eastern trip which had as its main objective attending the American Legion convention and the Century of Progress Expositipn in Chicago. While at the convention, Senator Booth was a. guest at the banquet given by the National Commander of the American Legion for distinguished distin-guished visitors. Senator and Mrs. Booth continued their trip through a number of Eastern states and as far south as Louisville, Kentucky. At the latter place Mr. Booth was the guest speaker at an American Legion luncheon held .last Monday. The trip was made by auto giving opportunities for interesting side trips which were much enjoyed. ? Sunday Night "Supper Creamed dried beef, broiled to-natoea, to-natoea, baking powder biscoits. pineapple marshmallow charlotte, nilk, tea. Make the dessert Saturday Aorning and here is the recipe Pineapple Marshmallow Tharlotte One-half cup whipping cream. i-2 cup marshmallows. 1 1-2 tablespoons table-spoons granulated gelatine. 1-2 cup cold water. 1 cup crushed pineapple. 1-4 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon table-spoon lemon, juice. 1 dozen iady fingers. ' Dip scissors in cold water when cutting marshmallows in, small pieces. Whip cream until stiff. Use a rotary beater 'to whip the cream which should be thoroughly .-chilled. Combine cream and prepared pre-pared marshmallows. Soak gelatine gela-tine in cold water for five minutes. Bring pineapple to the boiling point and aqd soaked gelatine Remove at once from the fire and add sugar. and lemon juice. Place the sauce pan containing this mix- : ture Tn a larger pan of ice water and chill, stirring constantly. Rub remaining tablespoon-ful tablespoon-ful of butter and flour together until perfectly smooth Pour milk over beef add butter and flour mixture and cook, stirring constantly con-stantly until mixture boils. Season with pepper and serve surrounded by a bordef of broiled tomatoes To broil tomatoes, wash and cut out stems Cut in slices, without peeling, making the slices about 1-2 inch thick. Dip in melted butter, sprinkle with salt and pepper, pep-per, broil under the flame of the gas broiler until brown on one side, then turn and brown on the other.
