Much talk about currency inflation; sentiment for it is said to be growing. Yet there is more money in America today than ever before;-more than there was at the height of our boom. So why print more? If what happened to the old currency cur-rency happens to the new and there's no guarantee it won't we won't be any better off. We could quadruple-the amount of our currency tomorrow, tomor-row, and business would not necessarily get better. It might get worse. It isn't the POSSESSION of currency that makes business; busi-ness; it's the USE of it. " If we started USING our currency, insteadrrf-hearding it, things would soon snap out of their slump. We don't need inflation of money ; we need inflation of CONFIDENCE. If the money turns over only twice a year, we have depression. If it turns over five times a year, we get along. If it turns over ten times a year, we have a boom. Doubling the number of men in a factory doesn't step up production UNLESS the men work. Doubling the number of $10 bills in a country doesn't speed up business UNLESS the $10 bills work. Unless he wants to spend money, it makes absolutely no difference to any man whether he has $5 or $500 lying idle. The man with $5 in a safety deposit box and the man with $5,000,000 in a vault are on a financial level as long as they don't use the money. This country wouldn't be rich, or prosperous, if every last citizen had a million dollars hidden in a teapot. Or ten million, or ten billion. Money isn't wealth. It can merely be exchanged for wealth. Until it is exchanged, it is just so much printed paper. You -could own a ton of it and starve to death. What makes prosperity is very simple. It. is the average aver-age citizen's belief truu, if he spends what money he has, he can get more. That's all. No trick formulas; no weird schemes; no international financial jigsaw puzzles. Just the confidence that-money will flow fast enough to assure every man a fair chance to get some of it. If the nation NEEDS the money, it should have it. But what it reads' 'needs is more confidence in spending spend-ing the plentiful supply of money it now has locked away and not working. Howdy, folks! Girls get an ap-Di ap-Di rei Uien of their part in the family fam-ily income when they learn to take an inventory, she said. The relationship of the wardrobe was another point emphasized. For instance,, in wearing a sports dress, the shoes and hat should be of the same type. Girls should be taught to keep ? shoe record and know the .rnis and prices. "If a girl knows how to make clothes she will know better how to buy them," Miss Davidson point ed out. afternoon on "Better Health for Better Posture, She emphasized the fact that the right kinds of food should be selected se-lected for the diet, that proper health habits should be maintained! and that the feet should receive special care. EDITOR) Sometimes our most remarkable achievements a;e remaikable chiefly because they indicate our departure from natural law and our smartness smart-ness proves our dumbness. The only true cleverness is that which prolongs contented life; if progress means misery, or, as Henry George puts it. progress and poverty, then far better be a savage happy in the warm South Sea sands than a harassed clerk listening listen-ing to a symphony over a rented piano. Surety of future, no matter how humble that future, is far better than the most splendid present pres-ent buiit on quicksand; the must hnpelfssly sad folks today are those folks who aie forced to live in only half the luxury they "enjoyed " a few years back. !
