Mapleton camp met Thursday afternoon at the ' home of Mrs. Esther W. Houtz. Captain Viola Allen presided. After community singing1 by the ladies, the following splendid program was rendered: Vocal solo, Miss Cleo Whiting, ac companied by Miss Zena Whiting; a history of the pioneers; John and Sarah Birch Waters was given in an especially interesting manner by Mrs. Esther- Waters Houtz. Mrs. ,Ellen Wheeler of Springville Camp No. 1 gave interesting incidents in the lives of these people; vocal duet Esther and LaVetta Houtz, accompanied accom-panied by Zena. Whiting. In conclusion con-clusion a delicious-' lunch was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. Martha Houtz Thirteen members mem-bers and two visitors were present: Among the pleasant parties of I the week end was one given Satur-Vday Satur-Vday evening by Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Clark for a number of friends. Pink and white carnations throughout through-out the entertaining room added to -the attractive color scheme. Progressive Pro-gressive "500" .was the feature of entertainment - and during the -.game prizes were won by Mrs. Jack Evans, Dee Miner, Mrs. D. C. Allenrtm , and Ralph Reed. Entertaining Entertain-ing rooms were beautiful being decorated with Valentinemotiffs in red and ; white. ' These colors were also effectively carried out in the dainty luncheon served at U o'clock, and . duringthe --. games which also suggested the Valentine spirit, prizes were given in keeping with the Valentine idea. A waffle breakfast was served Sunday morning. morn-ing. Those present to enjoy the delightful de-lightful affair were: Bernice Niel-son. Niel-son. Fern Jones, Eileen II. Blackett. A program of games and music was carried out and lunch was served at 11 o'clock. The many pretty and useful gifts presented to the guest of honor were then opened. Thirty-five friends and relatives were present. Miss LaRae Warren was hostess - - to the members of the Mapleton Gleaner class at her home Saturday evening. A program . of games, music and social chat was con eluded with lunch. Miss Byrl Hubbard, Oregon student at the x B. Y. U. gave especially well the Ytbre-act drama "Silver Cord." In .addition Harold and Glen ' Holley entertained with a number of vocal . and instrumental selections. Hoyle and two sons of Salt Lake" visited Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Brown and other relatives In Provo. Honoring Mrs. W. A. Bird whose k birthday occurred Friday her children chil-dren delightfully surprised her at their home Friday evening. Games ' and music furnished entertainment and lunch was served at midnight. Decorations suggestive of Valentine Valen-tine were especially attractive and a large crowd of students from this school and nearby - communities enjoyed the affair. Mrs. Esther D. Crandall of this city announces the engagement of her daughter Mabel to Paul H. Ellertson, son - of Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Ellertson of Provo. The marriage will - take place in the near future.
