Show V Thursday, .October 6, 1949 DAILY HERALD Lincoln, Payson Face Tough Foes In Region Three Lincoln and Payson, currently tied foithe top spot in the Region 3 football race, take on dangerous foe this week in the third round of region games, slated for Friday Fri-day afternoon. The Tigert will take on Spring-ville Spring-ville on the Lincoln gridiron and Lehl will travel to Payson for a game ' with' the Lions. Although these tQ encouters appear to be the top games of the .week, the Pleasant Grove-BY high game, lated for the Vikings field could turn out to be the four-star feature fea-ture of the third round. In the other region game, set tor Friday, Spanish Fork! will play at American Fork. All four region games will begin at 3 p. m. Will Be Favored The Golden Tigers, gunning for their fifth straight Region 3 title, have won two straight league games, and will be favored to put the akids on the Red Devils. However, Springville could be getting off to a bad start by . losing to BY high, 14-0. the Motor Company Pin Team Tops In Men's City League LEAGUE STANDINGS ' r w. l. pjt. Red Devils came back last week to edge out Pleasant Grove, 14-13. So given a break or two they might make it pretty interesting for Coach Glen Zimmerman's boys. Down at Payson, the Lions, who also have won their first two games defeating. Spanish Fork, 35-0, and American Fork 20-6, will be favored over a veteran vet-eran Lehi team, which was de feated by American Fork, 7-0, and then turned back Spanish Fork, 13-7, last week. Looks Like Toss Up The Pleasant Grove-BYU High game looks as somewhat of a toss up, at least on a comparative score basis. Lincoln had an extremely ex-tremely hard time getting past Pleasant Grove, 13-6, but romped romp-ed to an easy 26-0 victory over BY high. On the other hand, the Wild cats tripped Springville, 14 - 0, and Springville, as was previously previous-ly mentioned, defeated the Vik ings, 14-13. So, it looks as if one man's guess is as good as another's an-other's in predicting the outcome out-come of this game. American Fork shouldn't have too much difficulty against Span ish Fork, unless its game against Payson last week took too much out of the Cavemen. 1 Two Redskins Forced To Bench With Injuries SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 6 (U.R) Two regulars of the University of Utah grid squad, Center Wes ton Gardner and End Grant Martin, Mar-tin, were reported on the injured list today and probably will not see action Saturday night against BYU.
