Show C2 Wednesday, April 30, 2008 Vernal Express Utes shut-out by Judge fl I! Judge Memorial's pitcher Joe Pond is known around the state as one of Utah's best pitchers. He proved the validity of that statement by pitching a shut-out against Uintah. The game ended 10-0, as Uintah took another loss bringing their region tally to one win and five losses. "Hehasavery good slider that is very difficult to hit," explained Head Coach Brent Labrum. "Our kids could have had more confidence in trying to hit him, but he is very good." Labrum said he does not question ques-tion his team's effort. Adding he only wishes they had a stronger belief in their own ability. The loss does not effect the playoff picture, as all five Region 10 teams will be taking a playoff spot. However, the outcome of the April 29 match-up between Uintah and Union could change the standing. Uintah is in fourth place, but a loss would result in a coin flip for the bottom two spots. The game will be held at Uintah High School. It will begin around 3 p.m. ttt: ASS 0; 9Ci. - hi 18 O it f -ss a1 I I H II A jnr -"""Si " - .k--k,S 1 ,U& , v. 1 y v Josh Curtis (closest to the base) and Landon Lucero (number seven) work to get a Judge runner Kyle Hancock catches a toss to second base, he hopes to get the Judge runner out.
