When the group started, there were about a dozen people involved, but interest has since increased to about double that number. "It'seasy to join," commented George Long of Vernal. "There are no dues and although many are senior citizens, there is no age limit." Long continued to explain that about the only thing that is expected of those attending is that they like one another's company and enjoy listening to finemusicandsong. Another thing that adds to the atmosphere is meeting in the McDonalds restaurant and being surrounded by the many pictures pertaining to the historical past about Vernal and surrounding areas. "These photos relate to early buildings, businesses, events and people involved with Uintah County and its illustrious background," back-ground," said Long. All public mansion tours are free to the general public and are scheduled twice weekly, Tuesdays Tues-days and Thursdays, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (excluding holidays). Free parking is available east of the mansion, access from "H" Street, and summer tours will continue through August. No reservations are required. The mansion is located at 603 E.
