The veterans represented World War II, the Korean War and several more recent conflicts. The Vernal Rotary Club donated a flag pole to Uintah County Hospital (now AVMC) 25 years ago. The pole had to be removed during the expansion of the hospital and has now been re-erected in front of the main entrance to the building. Yesterday, Rotary President Cindy Perry led the ceremony to re-dedicate the pole. Veterans of Foreign Wars 5560, commanded by Duane Hall, conducted the actual flag raising. Max Hutcheon and Ray Sanchez raised the flag as Hall gave the commands. Members of American Legion 124 commanded by Frank Schwartz and members of Disabled American Veterans commanded by Lyle Smith stood at attention while the flag was raised. The Pledge of Allegiance was.said and "The Star Spangled Banner" was sungby the veterans, Rotary members, hospital staff and community citizens in attendance: 'J..- FOR THE FIRST TIME IN . UBTA annual meeting to be held on June 16 The Uintah Basin Telephone Association Cooperative annual annu-al meeting is this week. Co-op members may notice a few differences dif-ferences in this year's meeting, but the purpose of the meeting is still the same and all co-op members are encouraged to attend. One of the major differences member-patrons will notice is the later date of this year's meeting. This year's meeting will take place June 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Union High School. "We moved our annual meeting date back a couple of months this year in anticipation anticipa-tion of the completion of the merger of UBTA and UBET Telecom," UBTA CEO Bruce Todd explains, "We set an annual meeting date for June 16th and we were hoping to have the merger approved and finalized by then. We have, however, experienced some minor issues and the merger will not be completed by that time, but we will still hold our annual meeting for our member-patrons." Member-patrons will not be receiving their patronage checks at this year's annual meeting either which has been the tradition in years past. Management, along with Todd and the Board of Directors, chose to mail patronage patron-age checks out in May so that memberpatrons didn't have to wait until June to receive them. "Our members are used to receiving their patronage checks at the annual meeting, meet-ing, but instead of having our member-patrons wait, we have elected to mail this year's payment pay-ment of patronage credits prior to the annual meeting," Todd said. This year's election for director positions will also be a bit different in that all three incumbent directors whose seats are up for re-election are running unopposed. Director positions up for re-election include the Lapoint district director position held by Jerry Goodrich, the Flattop district director position held by Board President Bill Fausett, and the Fruitland district director position posi-tion held by Kent Peatross. All UBTA member-patrons are encouraged to attend the annual meeting. UBTA Public Relations Director Glenda Stewart says the annual meeting meet-ing is not only a good way to become updated on the company's compa-ny's financial state and business busi-ness dealings, but a positive benefit of being part of a co-op. The annual meeting is always a fun get together," Stewart said. "We have a nice dinner and give out a lot of door prizes and have a good time talking with our co-op members. We hope to see all the familiar faces we see every year and we hope to see even more new faces this year. Every co-op member is welcome." wel-come." Member-patrons will be treated to a good, old-fashioned barbecue, door prizes and will be informed on the latest company updates and financial finan-cial state. The UBTA Annual Meeting 2005 may be different than annual meetings in years' past, but it won't be short on good food or great prizes and will be a fun night for all member-patrons in attendance.
