The Dry Fork pile burned On May 4, the Vernal Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) conducted a prescribed burn in Dry Fork Canyon. Fire crews burned piles of juniper contained within one 37 acre section of the Dry Fork Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project. The 232 acre project started in the spring of 2004. The project proj-ect began with the cutting of the juniper within twelve different differ-ent areas or sections on the face of Dry Fork. Following completion comple-tion of the cutting phase of the project, fuel breaks were created creat-ed around each section, the area was seeded, and the juniper was stacked into piles to be burned. Over the next two weeks (May 9-20), on days when the weather permits, crews are planning to burn the remaining 90 acres of piles. Dr. Michael J.
