Part of the family of Vernal optometrist, LDS Church leader and member of the Utah State House of Representatives Jack Seitz was recently asked two questions: name the three most important things that you learned from your father, and then name the three most important things that you hope to pass on to your own children. Jack was also asked to reply to the same set of questions. Sons Neldon and Gordon and son-in-law Tod Tesar all work professionally profes-sionally with and, in recreational times, play with the senior Seitz and enjoy belonging to this close-knit family. At this time of reflection upon a father's worth, Jack says he was taught to always work hard, a lesson that he has taken to heart throughout his distinguished life as a husband, parent and civic leader. He now is serving as the first counselor in the presidency of the Vernal Temple and among his earlier church positions, posi-tions, he served as the Ashley Stake President. Though frequently living a tight schedule between work and volunteer volun-teer service, he felt his family had taught him to spend his free time with his family, and this he did with children Jacque, Sheldon, Gordon, Neldon and Cathy. He remembers his own boyhood discipline was strong but fair. When his marriage to wife Mildred brought the experience of fatherhood to him, he reflects that the lessons that he taught his children chil-dren were similar in many respects. Jack says that he hoped to teach his sons and daughters to be hard workers work-ers and to do the very best job they could. WHY DO YOU WANT TO RE-ESTABLISH RE-ESTABLISH YOUR CREDIT? Gordon has worked closely with Boy Scouts, the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce and has been a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Neldon and Gordon say with pride that their father has taught them "how to work." The three agree that Jack has led his family to understand the importance impor-tance of family relationships. Tod feels that his father-in-law has taught him that the family is the most important thing a man can have. He says he feels that Jack's example showed him that life should be lived so that your wife, children and friends are proud to know you. Again, what was observed in Jack's life is being echoed through these three men to their children. Putting their families first is a prime objective. Preserving the faith the family shares is a strong theme in all of their lives. Says Tod, "I hope to teach my own children not to be afraid to try anything they want to in life. If they fail they should learn from the experience." expe-rience." He adds that his own father, Benjamin Tesar, taught him that "If you are not working to get ahead, you are falling behind." Neldon adds that he wants his children to honor their mother. He grew up in a home with such respect for their mother and it is a value that will be preserved in his own home. Tod remembers his dad showed that raising children and maintaining a home is a 5050 "deal' between husband hus-band and wife.
