The Uintah Recreation District is now taking registration for its Womcns' Volleyball League. The league is open to any woman 16 years of age and over. The league will be divided into "A," Super B" and "B" league divisions. Games will be played on Wednesday and Thursday nights. There will be a limit of 12 teams per night. Registration is $160 per team. Rosters will be limited to 10 players. A coaches' meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Office, located in the Chamber of Commerce building. Registration deadline is Thursday, Oct. 1. To register come by the Recreation Office, 134 West Main Suite 101 or call 781-0982. During the playoffs the point values will be doubled. At the end of the season awards will be given to the top finishers. 5. Only original entry forms from the Vernal Express will be accepted. No photo copies. 6. Games left blank will be counted as incorrect picks. If a winning team is indicated indi-cated on the tie-breaker, but no score is given then the pick will be counted in the initial scoring, but will be given last place in tie-breaker determination, but will be given last place in tie breaker determination. 7. Ties will be broken by using the tie-breaker. The person with the smallest point differential between actual scores and predicted scores will win the tie-breaker. If after using the tie breaker there is still a tie, then whoever had the closest score to the winning team will be the winner. Uintah girl's soccer wins over Lehi in shootout 4-3, First in three years In a shootout, the Lady Ute Soccer team defeated Lehi, a feat they have not done in three years. At the end of regulation of the game at Lehi, Tuesday last week, the score was tied 1-1. In a shootout five players on each team are given the opportunity to make a goal. The Ute won the shootout 3-2. Thursday last week the Lady Utes put another mark in the win column as they defeated Roland Hall 3-1. However, the Utes' winning steak came to an end Tuesday this week with a 0-2 loss to Park City. The Utes lost to Park City earlier in the season, 0-5. V ?n nn n. wwaf . . Cougar hunt applications available Sportsmen interested in hunting cougars in limited entry management manage-ment units will need to make application appli-cation by mail no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 20. Applications will be available by Oct. 1 from hunting license li-cense agents statewide and DWR offices. Hunters are reminded that those who obtained a limited entry cougar permit for the 1996 or 1997 season may not apply for a limited entry permit for the coming year. Those who are successful in receiving receiv-ing a limited entry permit will be ineligible to purchase a harvest objective ob-jective unit permit. Drawing results will be posted by Nov. 9 at the six DWR offices. Vernal penners do well at State Fair Vernal team penners stole the show at the Utah State Fair Sept. 18. In Division 11, 1st place went to Cindy Merrill, Brett Hancock, and Garth Horrocks. In 3rd place were Troy Gregory, Brett Hancock and Cindy Merrill. In 4th place were Brett Hancock, Garth Horrocks and Troy Gregory. Fast Go went to Brett Hancock, Cindy Merrill and Troy Gregory at 30.25 seconds on three head. In Division 7, 1st place went to Garth Horrocks, Carol Gardiner and Blaine Moutlen. In 2nd place were Brett Hancock, Jim Francis and Dave Whitaker.
