What sort of reception? 2 Do your wishes clash with your budget? The costs of a wedding can run from a few hundred dollars for a simple ceremony cere-mony and a very small reception to many thousands of dollars for a large gathering with full professional services. Discuss the budget with your parents. Since your father will probably be bearing the bulk of the expenses, he should have a prominent voice in these matters. 3 Select the date and the hour you'd like. 4 Decide where you want to be married. In a church? A club or hotel? Where your parents live or where you are living? Who will officiate? Check at once to make sure both the place and person are available. 5 Make an appointment to talk to the clergyman. If you've decided on a civil ceremony, contact a magistrate and make the necessary arrangements. O 6 Determine the number of guests you want to attend. Then let your fiance's mother know what your plans are. , 7 Decide on the type of reception you want. If it's to be at a club or hotel, make the necessary reservations. Find out exactly what services are included and what options are available. Ask to have firm prices quoted in writing before you confirm. If the reception's to be at home, will you handle it yourself, use a full catering service, or hire a few people to help with the serving? THE LAST WEEK 1 Make sure the wedding announcement, with all the necessary neces-sary information, has gotten to the newspapers. 2 Put all your wedding clothes (including two pairs of stockings) stock-ings) in one place. 3 If possible, arrange for someone to be at your house all day on the wedding day to answer telephone calls, keep on eye on gifts, and be on call. 4 Assemble everything you plan to take on your wedding trip. Q 7 Pack your going-away handbag. 8 Estimate how long it will take you to dress on the day of the wedding. Allow a little extra time for small snags and for picture-taking. Be sure to allow enough time to get to the church on schedule. 9 Get some tissue paper or a large sheet to protect your dress in the car. A word of advice! Let others help you. Most people love being part of the preparations for a wedding. If you begin to feel frantic, take an hour off to nap or just sit down and do nothing. 4 maftu 1- ii tl 4 v.
