TYyimAfivrunnnb Cattlemen ho!d annual meeting Cowbelles and Cowboys of the Uintah Uin-tah Cattlemen's Association hosted over 200 of their membership at the annual barbecue and business meeting Aug. 17. The annual meeting was held at the Golden Age Center in Vernal. The board of directors will include district one, Farm Creek, Whiterocks, Hayden, Reed Hartle; district two, LaPoint, Deep Creek,' Dorothy Luck; districts three and four, Taylor and Brushcreek Mountains, Moun-tains, Cody Jenkins; district five, Diamond Mountain, Maughan Col-ton; Col-ton; district six, lower Diamond Mountain, Paul McCoy; district seven, Blue Mountain, Meril Snow; district eight, Jensen, Boyd Snow; district nine, Book Cliffs, Jon Hill. A representative has not been appointed ap-pointed to the RandlettOuray district 10. Meril Snow and Jon Hill are presently serving on the Utah State Cattlemen's board. Hill serves as second se-cond vice president and Snow is serving serv-ing as the field director. Featured speakers at the meeting were Jerry Wood, first vice president of the Utah Cattle Association; Dee Lite, national feeder association, and Steve Cox. Lite addressed the issue of the relationship of feeder cattle to grain and wheat fields in Kansas and how important it is that cattle ranchers ran-chers and the finisher understand each other. Other pertinent issues addressed at the meeting included the Neighborhood Neighbor-hood Watch program, tax laws and cattle rustling within the Basin and the problems it is causing for area ranchers. Dorothy C. Luck, president of the cattlemen's association, advised members on the Greenbelt Law. "Whenever there is a name change, legal description change, or withdrawal, the application must be refiled, before Jan. 1 at the office of the assessor," said Luck. "Since the state tax commission is in the process pro-cess of upgrading evaluations, it is wise to check tax notices as soon as they are received. You may be paying pay-ing for a house that is not yours." Luck commended members for their support of the Neighborhood Watch programs in communities throughout the county and their input on controversial issues affecting cattle cat-tle ranching. The Neighborhood Watch programs were started to help reduce the incidents of theft and vandalism van-dalism of farm equipment and machinery. A metal stamping tool is now available at the sheriff's office, with a personal identification number for marking machinery and equipment. During the past year several members of the association have taken a stand on issues of the changing chang-ing Dinosaur Monument to a park, grazing fees, wilderness designation and others. Recent incidents of cattle rustling is a growing concern of area ranchers. ran-chers. Luck said that as of May, four cases had been filed with the courts. "This does not include missing cattle cat-tle that have not been reported missing," miss-ing," said Luck. One of the youths charged with cattle cat-tle rustling has been arraigned and is currently undergoing a 90 day diagnostic evaluation. Nyal Cook who has also been charged with rustling rustl-ing is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Sept. 10. By Barton Weiss Eurythmics has a new clip, and Annie Lennox has a new look. This time around she has long hair and angelic looks. The song? "There Must Be an Angel." Dave Stewart plays a king (or Is It the King of Kings?). Either Ei-ther way, his white makeup looks great. The heavenly gospel singers are, well, heavenly, but the clip is still a bit of a disappointment. From . such videogenic performers, perform-ers, one expects more. Dodging piet? You don't have to have a great haircut to be a video star. Midnight Oil's lead singer Peter Garrett proves that you don't even have to have any hair. He has an intensity that makes It look like he's singing for mental health, he moves like he's dodging dodg-ing a bunch of pies ... and he's greatl "Best of Both Worlds" may break lot (his Australian Austra-lian band yet. Eurythmics Looking good Aretha Franklin's "Freeway "Free-way of Love" video nicely sneaks some political messages about unemployment unem-ployment between the frames of this otherwise upbeat clip. And sax-man Clarence demons looks even better here than he did in his own or In any of Bruce Springsteen's clips. Strings and funk Speaking of Springsteen, Spring-steen, Stanley Clark now has a video for his funk-rap funk-rap version ol Bruce's "Born In the USA." The clip is an odd assemblage of animated rope, bass strings, cables and other stringy objects, leaving room for only a few shots of the band and jazz bassist bass-ist Stanley Clark. Best home-market bet A lot of new music has been released to the home video market. The highlight high-light is a smashing Tina Turner live concert clip called "Tina Live: Private Dancer Tour." This new Sony release Is not to be confused with "Tina Turner Live" on ThornEMI, a concert from a previous Tina comeback, or the "Private Dancer" video, also on Sony, which is a clip compilation. The new concert feature was directed by David Mallet, who helped create the early music video form with David Bowie. The 55 minutes go by very quickly, quick-ly, and toward the end, Tina is joined by friends Bryan Adams and David Bowie. : l r POUND PUPPIES are in need of adoption.
