Sticking to the subject has paid off for one inventor in an unusual way. ' About a decade ago a scientist named Arthur L. Fry had a bright idea. A member of his church choir, he was in the habit of marking mark-ing hymn selections for Sunday service with a scrap of paper. Often, Of-ten, the paper would disappear. Some years earlier, a colleague of Fry's at 3M, Dr. Spencer Silver had developed an oddball adhesive. adhe-sive. It was just strong enough to stick to things but it came off easily. easi-ly. Fry tried it on his paperscrap bookmarks, and a new product was born. Now, these Post-it brand Notes have become a top selling item across the country. They come in several sizes, colors and formats.
