Show Public invited to 4-H Fair Aug. 8-10 Wednesday, August 8, 1984 Vemfll htftSt 1 5 V 7 4 V The 4-H Fair this year is going to be ' great. There will be exhibits to see and contests to watch. The Public Speaking Speak-ing and Demonstration Contests will be held Thursday, starting at 9:30 a.m. Two individuals will be competing in Public Speaking for a chance to represent repre-sent Uintah County in this contest at the 4-H State Contest. Twenty-five 4-Hers will be giving demonstrations covering numerous topics. On Friday at 10 a.m., 20 individuals will be competing com-peting for top honors in three age categories 10 and under, 11 to 13, and 14 and over. for the public to view on Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Uintah County's Utah State Fair 4-H exhibits will be selected and will receive purple ribbons at this county fair. The staff at the Uintah County Extension Ex-tension Office, Steven D. Cox, county agentarea coordinator; Holly H. Baker, home economist; Sharlen Wof-finden, Wof-finden, 4-H assistant; andErma Mer-rell, Mer-rell, office secretary, invite everyone in the county to come and see what the youth in Uintah County can do. 4-H exhibits will be judged and open See ya at the fair, Aug. 8, 9 and 10. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Steele Rangely couple to celebrate golden wedding anniversary On Saturday, Aug. 18, Robert "Bob" and Ruby Foster Steele will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at the LDS church in Rangely, Colo. A brief program will begin at 7 p.m. All are invited. Ruby was born in Vernal and graduated from Uintah High School in 1929. Bob was a member of Vernal's first football team and graduated from Uintah High School in 1930. They have four children. Foster lives in Lindon, Utah; Shirley lives in Quartz Hill, Calif.; Carol lives in Rangely and Larry lives in Vernal. The informal gathering is being sponsored in an effort to give the women in Uintah County the opportunity oppor-tunity to meet the wives of gubernatorial guber-natorial candidates Norm Bangerter and Val Oveson Bangerter is running for the Republican nomination for governor and Oveson is running on the same ticket for the It. gov. nomination. Committee members hosting the event, which will begin at 3 p.m. and conclude at 6 p.m., stress that attire for the occasion is casual and all women in the area are invited to attend. Special guests in addition to Colleen Bangerter and Emilee Oveson will be first time voters and long time women party members. Committee members sponsoring the event are Nina Pease, chairwoman, Dode Rolf, Jeanie Anderton, Rita Wetenkamp, Lillian Henderson, Eloise Turner, Thelma Wright and Deanna Millecam. For more information on the gathering, contact Mrs. Pease or any committee member. The Uintah Historical Society will meet at the Golden Age Center on Aug. It at 2 p.m. Mr. Wm. L. Tenant will review his book of the John Jarvie Ranch in Brown's Park. John Jarvie was one of the more prominent residents of the park, being owner of the store and ranch. Eventually he was murdered. To earn his master of science degree from Utah State University. Mr. Tenant Te-nant cho.seihe John Jarvie Ranch for his thesis. Mr. Tenant was affiliated with the I51.M in Vernal then moved to Grand Junction. Colo., where he is curator of history at the Museum of Western Colordao. Sister Gambles was born in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Charles E. and Sarah Tame de St. Jeor. She married mar-ried Paul Gambles in the Salt Lake Temple and the couple have four children. Sister Gambles was originally called call-ed to the Primary General Board on May 3, Prior to this call, she had taught in Sunday School and itimary, had been a den leader, a ward Primary president and a ward YWM1A president. She graduated from the University ol Utah wan a IlS degree in education from the same university in education. Sister Gambles has taught public school and on the university level, and has been a consultant for the Granite School District in the learning center classrooms. While in Vernal. Sister Gambles wiU meet with all four stake Primary presidencies and stake Primary Boards. At 7 p m. on Thursday evening, even-ing, she will address a special meeting to be attended by ward Primary presidencies and Bishopric Advisor.
