We always like it to be as much of a family outing as possible, so we want to make it so everybody can have a good time." After the half marathon, runners who are competing in the Triple Trail Challenge have a quick turnaround to get ready for the Sept. 12 Mid Mountain Marathon. Graves said she'll try to mix up her training to stay fresh and prepare for the event. "I've got a lot of training to do," she laughed. "Variety is always good - not doing the same thing every time. I'm ultimately training for an Ironman, so I like to mix it up." To get ready for a longdistance trail run, Graves said nothing beats getting out on Park City's extensive trail system. "There are so many great trails," she said. "Rob's Trail is a good one. I just did the Jupiter Peak Steeplechase and that was awesome. You really can't go wrong. They're all amazing." For the marathon, Sturgis said Mountain Trails is hoping for a little more participation. Mid-September is ideal for a long-distance run in Park City, he added. "We're looking for 400 runners," he said. "Sept. 12 is coming up. It should be a good time. September is such a great time to be out in the woods around here, anyway." The Mid Mountain Marathon is scheduled for Sept. 12 at 8 a.m. It will start at the Silver Lake Lodge at Deer Valley and finish at Canyons. The competition began with the Open Men's division. Utah-based Mitch Ropelato executed the technical sections of the course with fluidity and skill to receive a time of 21:20.9. Canyons local Cody Kelley secured the second-fastest time at 21:51.9. Kyle Warner rounded out the podium with a time of 22:01.4. "The trails were really fun and physical," said Ropelato. "It was technical, you had to be on your game." Next, in the Open Women's category, enduro racing newcomer Anne Galyean crushed the four stages with a total time of 26:32.0. Nearly missing the top spot and finishing in second place was Teal Stet- son-Lee at 26:39.8. Finally, only four-tenths of a second behind Stetson-Lee was Ileana Anderson. "I liked the course a lot, I thought it had a good variety," Galyean said. "Especially in the states, enduro can swing way too far to the pedaling or way too far to the downhill. This one had a lot of great variety -some of everything. It was a lot of fun." Riders not only competed to win the Canyons Resort race, but also to claim the overall Enduro Cup series title. The series featured stops in Moab, Sun Valley and Canyons Resort. By maintaining consistent finishes at all three stops, Cody Kelley earned the overall championship for men. With three podiums, Teal Stetson-Lee secured the women's overall title. The competition was deep in the expert and amateur divisions. The Bingham family was one of the stand-out stories. Chris, dad, got fourth in his division, Bryn, son, first place, and Lauren, 12, daughter, got third and took the overall series win in the Amateur Women's category (ages 1939). "We committed to doing the entire series," Chris Bingham said. "We spent our family vacation coming to the races. It was a great experience together."
