Katharine Wang, executive director of the Park City Film Series and one of the Park City Library Board members, said after the series takes the summer off, it will open its new season at Prospector in the fall. "We'll open on September 5 and run roughly through the first weekend in January, when the theater closes to prepare for the Sundance Film Festival," Wang told The Park Record. "So the break will be like a little ‘staycation.'" After the last films are screened this season, the Park City Film Series will relocate The L.A. Times crossword puzzle "BREAKING PAR" By C.C. BURNIKEL We are excited for the addition of the green elements to the Park City Library and Education Center in the renovation…" Katharine Wang Executive director of the Park City Film Series the digital projector and other equipment. "We will remove and store it away for the summer because we don't want it to be impacted by the construction dust," Wang said. "Then we'll temporarily reinstall it into the Prospector in September." The film series will also set up the seats in the theater on the venue's tiers. "What's also nice about the space is that we have more flexibility," Wang said. "We can present a dinner and movie event, but do it on-site. Or we can put in cabaret tables and get a food and wine license for a weekend and host something we don't normally do." Still, planning the season for the 2014-15 will be a little tricky because of the Prospector's schedule. "Giving a Bleep will present its performance fundraiser for area nonprofit organizations for two weekends in Novem- ber, so the screenings will be scheduled around that," Wang said. "And there are other things that we'll have to adjust to." Still, Wang said the Park City Film Series is looking forward to showing films at the Prospector. "What we like about the space is that it's in a neighborhood that is easy to walk to," she said. "There are also restaurants and businesses that are excited that we're coming over there. So people who are going to the screenings can pop in to get dinner nearby and then come to the theater." Moving the equipment and setting up the theater is a necessary inconvenience for the Park City Film Series, because of what it means to the Park City Library, Wang said. "We are excited for the addition of the green elements to the Park City Library and Education Center in the renovation," she said. "Right now, the building is so inefficient when it comes to energy conservation and the goal of the renovation is to get the building to be certified LEED silver." LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Silver certification recognizes that a building is environmentally friendly. A silver certification is the third highest award in the scale, according to the United States Green Building Council.
