The Owner worked with the UDEQ and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop a Remedial Action Work Plan that will consolidate the impacted soils into an on-site repository. This action will prevent human contact with the soils, is designed to be protective of both human health and the environment, and will provide a path for development of a community that will benefit the Park City area. During excavation work associated with the impacted soils, access to the site will be controlled using temporary fencing and fugitive dust will be monitored to ensure the safety of workers and the community. It is anticipated that work will start in the winter of 2013-2014; however, if weather prohibits work at the site, work will begin in the spring of 2014. Remedial site work pertaining to the excavation and consolidation of impacted soils is anticipated to take approximately 6 to 8 weeks to complete. Following completion of remediation activities, a Site Management Plan will be generated to define the site management requirements, any activity and use limitations at the site, management and maintenance of the soil consolidation area, and site inspection and reporting requirements. Engineering controls and institutional controls will be incorporated at the site to ensure continued protection of human health and the environment. The Remedial Action Work Plan may be viewed, and comments on the plan received, at the Utah Department of Environmental Quality/Division of Environmental Response and Remediation (DERR) offices at the address below.
