Friday, May 31 The Park City Film Series: ‘A Place at the Table' The Park City Film Series will partner with the Sundance Institute to present Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush's "A Place at the Table," rated PG, Friday, May 31, through Sunday, June 2, at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library and Education Center, 1255 Park Ave. The film explores hunger in the United States. The Friday and Saturday screenings will begin at 8 p.m. Sunday's screening will start at 6 p.m. Friday's screening is free to the public, and there will be a panel discussion afterward with Jacobson and representatives from the Utah Food Bank, the YMCA of Northern Utah, Rob Harter from the Christian Center of Park City and Kathy Ostler from Summit Pediatrics. Stand-Up Comedy at the Egyptian Theatre The Egyptian Theatre, 328 Main St., will present stand-up comedians Lisa Alvarado and Dwight York, on Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, at 8 p.m. Alvarado has performed all across America as well as several regional Comedy Festivals. Her TV appearances include NBC's "Last Comic Standing", Nick at Nite's "The Search for the Funniest Mom in America 2," SiTv, and "Que Loco Comedy Jam" to name a few. York performs has headlined the Buffalo Chip Comedy Club at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. He has also appeared at The Great American Comedy Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and was a two-time finalist in the San Francisco International Comedy Contest. York has also been a favorite guest on the nationally syndicated The Bob and Tom Show and was featured on their CD, "You Guys Rock." Utah Conservatory Block Party The Utah Conservatory, 4593 Silver Springs Dr., will host a free block party and open house on Friday, May 31, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The event will feature 30 to 35 music students performing in seven rock, pop and jazz bands and a free barbecue. Park City Art Gallery Association's Gallery Stroll On the last Friday of each month, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., members of the Park City Art Gallery Association offer a free unique monthly showcase highlighting artists, special exhibits and art events. This month's stroll, which will be held Friday, May 31, give residents and Park City visitors the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments while exploring Park City's exciting art scene. Saturday, June 1 Mountain Town Music's ‘JamBalaya' Mountain Town Music, a nonprofit organization that brings live music to Summit County, will host a "JamBalaya" fundraiser at Temple Har Shalom, 3700 Creekside Rd., on Saturday, June 1, from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. The event will feature a cash bar and live music by the band Euphorquestra. Local Ski Resorts National Ability Center Barn Party The National Ability Center, a nonprofit organization that provides recreational activities for all abilities, will host its annual Barn Party at 1000 Ability Way at Quinn's Junction on Saturday, June 1, from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Activities will include dinner, a mechanical bull, riding demonstrations and line dancing. Children's activities will feature a bounce house, arts and crafts, rodeo clowns, a Li'l Buckaroo Parade and a petting zoo. Advance tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for youth ages 11 through 16. After May 30, tickets will cost $50 for adults and $25 for youth ages 11 to 16. Tickets for children ages 10 and younger are $5 for children younger than 10. The People's Health Clinic's Silver Queen Derby The People's Health Clinic's Silver Queen Derby, a fashion preview and luncheon fundraiser, will be held on Saturday, June 15, at the Stein Eriksen Lodge at Deer Valley beginning at 11 a.m. The event will feature a silent auction, lunch, libations, a fashion preview and a pop-up boutique.
