Is Mrs. H. R. Gust, retiring pre- sident, acted as installing officer 7 and installed the following: Mrs. I J. F. Barkle, president; Mrs. W. " J. Myers, vice president; Mrs. f i Clyde Gillam, secretary; Mrs. -1 Richard Rubright, promotion sec- I rotary; Mrs. Joe Anderson, social ; relations and local church secre- I tary; Mrs. G. W. Knudsen, youth i secretary; Mrs. W. A. Fike, chil dren's work secretary; Mrs. Bert Thomas, literature and publica- h tions; Mrs. Gust, spiritual life I" secretary; Mrs. Cullen Combs, V; supply secretary; Mrs. Benton i c Boyd, education and missionary (j secretary, and Mrs. Dallas And- yi erson, treasurer. The latter two j were not present at the meeting. Rev. Earl Lake gave a few remarks re-marks on the recent conference t j held at Pueblo, Colo. ' ! Mrs. Hal Reherd of Anchorage, ,' Alaska, who is visiting here, I; gave a very interesting talk on 'I projects that the WSCS of the j Methodist church is sponsoring in I Alaska,' among which aret the Seward hospital and the Jesse Lee home, an orphanage. She also told of the ways and means of progressing in the church work there. She spoke of the diphtheria diphth-eria epidemic on Unga Island, which has a population of 110 and of which over 50 per cent were stricken and how an army p doctor, a navy doctor, navy nurse i and two civilian nurses (she be- ing one of the civilian nurses) ' were sent to the island to com- ' bat the epidemic. They were on I the island ten days. I After the meeting refreshments f were served to 17 members and four visitors by Mrs. Gust who was hostess for the evening. Next meeting will be held at the home I of Mrs. Bert Thomas in Lark on ! July 21st. I O |
